Set up a working drone simulator connected to ArduPilot for testing and showcasing.

  • Initially tried using Gabezo Harmonic but decided not to as it was not working very well
  • Switched to NVIDIA Omniverse IssacSim + Pegasus simulator for Ardupilot
  • Had to change versions 4 different times as Pegasus was not compatible with many
  • Downgraded NVIDIA driver for compatibility
  • Imported drone frame as baseline
  • Tested with Iris drone

Worked on updating the BOM.CSV and doing calculations

  • Found 9 in propellers
  • Created weight sheet and recorded weights of all parts
  • Added calculations for TWR ratio
  • Found 4x motors to use
  • Used eCalc and Everydrone to calculate minimum thrust needed, battery discharge, and flight time.

Worked on code, simulations, and cleaning up the repo.

  • Cleaned up repo, added prior schematics, and create code and src folder
  • Create Mavlink_Control.py to connect to drone and allow control
  • Created main.py
  • Created vision.py to be able to read and detect objects
  • Created vision_test.py to locally test vision without hardware
  • Installed Mission Planner and connected to Mavlink.py
  • Ran a working simulation on Mission Planner

Refined Wiring based on existing parts:

  • Found pre-owned parts and redid wiring based off them
  • Added Cube Carrier Board
  • Cubepilot Power brick
  • Better telemetry with SIK radio
  • RunCam Phoenix 2 camera for FPV
  • AKK FX2 Ultimate For camera transmitting
  • FlySky_10_Channel normal radio transmitter and reciver
  • MMCX and Dipole Antennaes

Worked on fixing up wiring and creating cad:

  • Fixed up wiring
  • Added larger battery
  • Changed out rasberry pi camera
  • Found viable frame option
  • Begun finding premade cad files

Working on the wiring diagram for the drone:

  • Added the existing owned flight controller
  • Radio for both FPV and autonomus
  • 4-in-1 ESC + Motors
  • Battery, regulator, and step-down for Raspberry PI
  • Raspberry Pi with placeholder camera for object detection and FPV
  • GPS+Compass
  • Button and antenna
