[Game update]
Our game has sound effects now! @kimeowsu actually got sound effects from the website aidn.jp/dotvoice by daniwell!

The sound effects are quite minimal so it sounds quite empty for now… we will have original music eventually from a friend
, but good things take time 😋
I also fixed some bugs (mostly ones I caused myself 😅) and added a quit button
(as cool as Boba Cats! is, I don’t think anyone wants to play it forever and ever and ever)
As @Jewelia said in her post, we are hoping to ship this week!! World 1 will be completely playable!! 🎉🥳🎊
In the future, we may have another ship just to include the music and any fixes and extra touches ![]()
Thanks for reading!! :D
[Game update]
I made this animation that plays whenever you get an item!
Some other small additions:
Since this project has gotten more attention recently, thank you for the support!!!!
@Jewelia and I hope to have a ship ready soon…
!) [Game update]
You can’t see your number of coins collected yet so you’re just gonna have to trust me they’re getting collected
but then I realized I had to fix the camera movement to stay still during the miniboss (actually @Jewelia ended up doing that because I couldn’t figure it out
), edit all of the seabunny animations because switching animations caused the seabunny to start floating
, make the exit of the room higher so that the player can’t escape without actually finishing the miniboss
, make the climbable vine sprite longer so the player can actually reach that exit when it’s time, fix issues in the player’s movement code (which have been there the whole time…😅), implement the quest system we made so that the game keeps track of when you’ve beaten the miniboss and when to play which cutscene, make the ending cutscene, make the world 1 end screen (which doesn’t work yet oops), uhhh
But that didn’t take too long… So yeah we’re almost done with the seabunny miniboss!

Anyway, I also added another short cutscene at the beginning of the game, began working on my secret room
, and finally organized all of the game files into folders!
(I also renamed my project folder… which created a new project in Hackatime… but I didn’t realize and thought I lost my hours and made it so that I could never get hours on Stardance ever again… but actually I just had to add the new Hackatime project to Stardance and I was just stupid and everything’s fine
)
We’re continuing to tweak things and add the final additions to our game!
Including:
I keep forgetting to post devlogs…
We’ve been continuing to add more rooms, such as this long coral room. (Unfortunately, the tube coral sprites are a little broken right now and look like they are on the ceiling…
) Now there’s only 2 rooms left to add for world 1!! 🎉
🎉
We also worked on finishing up the sea bunny miniboss (still not working right now) and making cutscene animations like this one in the boba room ⬇️. They’re actually so silly and fun to make 😆 so you better watch the video
(if you want to)
As always, @kimeowsu made the art, and @Jewelia added plenty of new updates too!
We created a minigame where you collect fish within a time limit to get coins! You have to be careful, though, because if you get too close, you can get hit by them. @Jewelia also started making a menu to show the controls and inventory. Additionally, we’re continuing to add new rooms and dialogue scenes!

New Rooms !!
Sorry it’s been a while… @Jewelia, @kimeowsu, and I have been adding a lot of new rooms to the underwater section of the game, like this submarine workshop and this cave room! We also added screen transitions and a way to enter and exit buildings. Now, we are beginning to add in the dialogue!
The first world of our game may be done very, very soon! (Maybe even soon enough for a free sticker?
) Until next time!

@Jewelia and I started making the dialogue system! The only issue is that the font is blurry. I thought I fixed it… but no… 😔 Maybe it will work better with a more pixelated font. 🤔
Actually I think half of the time I spent was just importing sprites 😅 @kimeowsu has been doing a ton of pixel art! 🔥🔥🔥We also added a big jellyfish! kimeowsu says it’s based on the Sea Nettle :0
Anyway sorry the video is so chaotic 👻😆
@kimeowsu brought us some lovely art for this box room! There’s a big jellyfish at the top that hurts you if you go near…
We also added a parallax effect, so the different layers of the background move at different speeds! (It’s most noticeable in the rocks at the top.)
Don’t ask what the bomb does…
Flashlight system!! ✨
We added darkness and a flashlight system, which will be used in certain rooms of the game!
(and the code for this worked first try?!? OK more like second try but still 🤯)
Right now the flashlight can follow where your mouse pointer is!
Also, @Jewelia did some magic and fixed the camera so it looks great now! 😄
I’m making an adventure game with an underwater area! 🌊🐟🦀🪸🐈🐳😄🆒😆👾‼️‼️Ok sorry for all the emojis 😔
Anyway I made a tube coral that pulls the player down when they swim above it! @Jewelia helped make it so that they turn on and off every two seconds using a timer! (Her hours are logged separately) It works now except for some reason the coral in the middle doesn’t want to cooperate!! It turns on at a different time then the others for some reason and doesn’t pull the player when it’s supposed to! IDK why this is happening they should all be the same
Once we figure out how to fix that, the next step is to make it so that if you get pulled too close to the bottom, you take damage. and at some point add the art graphics!
