Day - 3 Devlog

ToDo

  • Schematic
  • 3D model in CAD

Devlog

Serwin:

I find the Onshape CAD as hard and couldn’t progress a lot – but i did learnt some basics

Have to work on the Robot’s CAd again from scratch

Ijaz:

Added all the components into schematic and with some help of chatGPT, wired eveerything

The schematic is almost done – moving on to the footprints phase

Work Done:

  • Schematic DONE ✅

  • Learnt basics of CAD

Day 2 - Devlog

Todo

  • Adding components and wiring – Ijaz
  • Designing 3d model for the robot – Serwin

Devlog

Serwin:

Did a very basic 3d model in Tinkercad – planning to use AutoCAD and thus, no further progress for now

Ijaz:

Added the basic components into the schematics – Esp32, MPU 6050, Battery, Switch, Stepper motors

Also researched about Motor drivers such as L298N, TMC 2209 and etc..

It took way longer than i thought but i connected some pins too while doing this

Work Done

  • Added basic components in kicad

  • Very basic 3d model done in Tinkercad

Day 1 - Devlog

We are going to work on the Self-balancing robot with PID control loop

Todo

  • Rough sketch of wiring and Schematics – Ijaz
  • Rough sketch of 3d model of robot – Serwin

Devlog

Serwin:

I have started by creating a new project in Kicad

I added some connectors for battey and switch

But then, we decided to switch the work (From now on, i will handle the mechanical design and he would do the electrical design)

So, i’m gonna use tinkerCAD as it is free.

I started by importing the stepper motors and wheels into the design

I tried to model the head – to make it modular – easy to change and customize

I just made a rough sketch – but my idea is to make the design more modular…!!

So, stay tuned for more updates - lol

Ijaz

Work done

  • Started a rough sketch on Tinkercad and working on it…

Did really very less work today

I just thought about the game idea and implementation

Also, I added JSON file to store the upgrades

– Will do more work at next devlog

PS: Don’t mind the negative count :sweat_smile-hole:

Ship

The first ship actually contains very limited features but more will be added soon

I have added some interesting easter eggs into the website and i hope it would be funny and enjoyable

I didn't find this challenging -- i followed the guide to set up the dragging mechanism and then, i poured some of my creativity to add more windows

Try project → See source code →

I have finished the website for it’s first SHIP

It may not be perfect but it will be improved continually and more features will be added on next ships

This first ship actually contains very limited windows and very basic UI

The reason is that, the first ship in this mission will not be rated and i don’t want to spend much time on first ship – for the next ships, i will work more and more features will be added.

But i have done my best to include some easter eggs into this website..!

make sure to find them

Today’s progress

I actually gonna ship within next devlog for a prototype

The prototype contains three windows

  • About
  • Information
  • Notes

All the three apps will be kinda very basic – after the ship, i will work on the project and polish it

Reason: The first ship into the mission will not have any payouts and so, I’m limiting the work.

Day-3

Gonna work on Schematics

ToDo

  • Add esp32-c3, shift registers

Devlog

I started by opening the kicad and working by adding the battery – but the kicad isn’t working properly (Some technical issues)

So, I switched the work to just sketch the rough idea about the led cube

I drew simple drawing showing the connection of the led’s – Cathodes should be joint together on both horizontal and vertical..!

The anode should bent with 90 degree and must be symmetrical

After the rough sketch, i moved on to add the schematics

I also sourced product for the esp32-c3 and found one by the manufacture – seeed studio

I used chatGPT to analyse some of the sourced products for the project.

That’s all for today

What’s done

  • Added Battery, esp32-c3, Shift registers header into the schematics
  • Sourced esp32-c3 and shift registers from digikey india

Day 2

Actually, i found some pcb boards online for this project
But i’m not gonna copy them – just for some inspo!!

Todo

  • Layout the schematic (Before that decide about using Shift register or not)

Devlog

I was kinda confused because the online gerber files doesn’t include the shift register – idk the reason
So, i asked GPT to clarify that doubt!!

They are not using Shift registers because the cube is 4x4x4 and doesn’t need a lot of pins

We will jump into the Schematic diagram – and simultaneously add components in BOM

We will be using TP4056 module for charging but kicad doesn’t have built-in for it

Day 1

I just figured out that i couldn’t commit – when i just create a folder with no files inside it.
I was like fighting against it for 10 mins..!!

Description

Let me be clear with what i am building

I’m building a 5x5x5 led cube with battery built=in.

  • It got 125 leds(Blue color) arranged in 5x5x5 – I’m gonna design two types of PCB one for base and another for layers
  • It got battery built-in, so it can be brought anywhere
  • It will have case for the bottom and i’m thinking for a case on top too.
  • The code can also be easilt uploaded using USB in the bottom case

Todo

  • Search for components and prepare BOM
  • Import components into the Schematic diagram

Devlog

Let’s get started..!!

I’m searching through online for components.

Finally, i found source for Blue led It is diffused because it emits light all around and making it visible from any POV.

I also found a instructable tutorial – link

It’s actually getting one hour already – I’m gonna get my lunch…!!

Work done

  • Found led and also a gold tutorial (Hehehe, i would refer it to finish this project)
  • Learned a lot about leds (Diffused, clear – 5mm, 3mm and more..)
  • Also, i got some idea about shift registers and why we use that here.

In this 1 hour,

I worked through the Jam and made some basic windows and top bar

I almost followed the whole Jam to get some rough idea..!! After this, i would get into the my own customization and also add some more windows.

Stay tuned for more updates – this webOS will focus only on me – personal portfolio.

Devlog #4

I haven’t made much progress today – but i made huge changes..!!

I made a json file to store the upgrades and integrated it with the game.

I will soon add other upgrades here in json and as well as in the game.

The game is kinda working rn..!! Let’s see!!!!

So, Today

I just completely changed the idea of the game – making this game as a tycoon

Like, we have to click to count the stars and using the count as currency we can upgrade the count speed as well as hire auto-counters..!!

I quickly setted up the click counter with time-interval and also, upgrades that reduces the time-interval between each click.

This doesn’t took me a long – but before that, i invested a lot in previous game idea and quickly changing everything kinda took long

Devlog #3

Today, i added some upgrades to this game like,

  • Increasing the click radius
  • Drag and count ability

Still, i didn’t polish the game cuz, i am focusing on adding the basic game logic and after that, at final, i would polish the game

Basically, this game is about counting stars – you got to click on them and count (They would disappear once clicked – Maybe i would change that) but the stars might randomly appear too..!! It’s really hard to click on each stars by our own – therefore, there’s upgrade to increase the radius on which the stars can be counted..!!
Also, i planned a drag and count ability – when activated we can drag as long as given time and count those stars.

Devlog #2

In this 32m, I focused on implementing spawning of Stars and disappearing when clicked with Mouse..!!

I also made the Count to be updated

This looks kinda messy but i will polish it soon!

Todo:

  • Add Upgrades mechanism (Prototype)
  • Frame the story for the game

I will focus on the MVP at first and after that, i will move on to refining the game.

In this 45m, I started the pygame project – Added the screen, bg color and then i made a sprite group for the stars. I randomized the star’s position and appended it into the screen. I didn’t use normal list for storing the stars but instead i used the group() function in pygame

The motive of the game is to count the stars – so i need more stars – if that’s the case, i would end up facing a problem – checking the position of each star and mouse click to make it as one count.

I got to figure it out soon..!!
