Devlog 5 – Finalizing the Sedan Model Today I completed my low-poly sedan model in Blender. After several iterations of refining the mesh and improving the proportions, I finished the remaining details and finalized the overall design. The project has progressed from a simple blueprint with a few vertices into a complete 3D vehicle.I also finalized the materials and color scheme. After experimenting with different options, I chose a clean, modern look that complements the shape of the car while maintaining the low-poly style. I made final adjustments to the body panels, windows, lights, wheels, and other exterior elements to ensure the model looked consistent from every angle.This project helped me gain a much better understanding of Blender’s modeling workflow, including topology, edge flow, symmetry using the Mirror Modifier, and the importance of planning a model before adding details.ProgressCompleted the low-poly sedan model.Finalized the topology and overall proportions.Applied the final materials and color scheme.Refined the exterior details, including the windows, lights, wheels, and trim.Prepared the model for rendering and presentation.ReflectionBuilding this sedan from scratch taught me the value of working step by step. Devlog 4 – Topology Complete & Color ExplorationToday I completed the base topology of the sedan model. After refining the mesh over the previous sessions, the geometry is now in a good state, with the main body fully modeled and ready for the next stages of development. Completing the topology gives me a solid foundation for adding materials and finer details.With the modeling stage largely complete, I started experimenting with colors and materials to give the car more personality. I’m currently leaning toward a bright yellow theme, as it highlights the body lines well and gives the model a clean, sporty appearance. Devlog 3 – Completing the Base MeshToday I continued building the sedan model by adding more faces across the body. This helped connect the remaining sections of the mesh and made the model much more complete. With most of the faces now in place, the sedan has a solid structure and closely resembles the final shape I am aiming for.I also spent time refining the vertex mesh, adjusting the placement of vertices to improve the overall flow of the geometry. This will make it easier to add details and smooth the model in later stages without running into topology issues.At this point, the base vertex mesh is almost complete, leaving only a few areas that need to be finished before I can move on to adding finer details and refining the body panels.ProgressAdded faces across most of the car body.Continued refining the vertex mesh and edge flow.Nearly completed the base mesh of the sedan.Improved the overall shape and proportions of the model.Next StepsFinish the remaining sections of the base mesh.Clean up the topology where needed.Begin adding more detailed features to the exterior.

I built SPACE OS, an interactive browser-based desktop operating system using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. It features a Mission Explorer, Solar System Explorer, Space Facts generator, persistent Notes app, wallpaper customization, draggable windows, a dock, and desktop shortcuts, all designed to make learning about space more engaging.

The biggest challenge was handling all the interactions between different parts of the project. Implementing draggable windows, managing which window stays on top, saving notes with Local Storage, building the wallpaper system, and making every application work together without breaking existing features involved a lot of debugging and iteration.

I'm most proud of how much I learned while building this project. I started with a simple idea and gradually added more functionality, from custom window management to persistent storage and desktop interactions. Seeing all the individual pieces come together into one polished project was really satisfying.

Click Start System to enter SPACE OS. Open apps from the dock, drag windows around the desktop, right-click to access desktop options, change wallpapers through Settings, explore the Mission and Solar System apps, and try the Notes app. Notes save automatically, and you can also press Ctrl + S to save them manually.

Devlog 5 – UI Overhaul & System Polish

I made Space OS feel like a real desktop operating system instead of just a collection of windows. Rather than adding more apps, I focused on improving the user experience and polishing the entire interface.
What’s New
Redesigned the dock with a modern glassmorphism look, smoother hover animations, and active app indicators.
Standardized the design of every application by giving all windows a consistent header, borders, colors, buttons, and typography.
Added a fully functional Settings application with wallpaper customization and system information.
Implemented a custom right-click context menu for quick desktop actions such as opening Settings, creating a new note, and changing the wallpaper.
Improved the desktop boot sequence with a startup screen and smoother transitions.
Added support for multiple wallpapers that can be changed directly from inside the operating system.
Upgraded the Notes app with automatic saving using local storage, so notes remain even after refreshing or reopening the OS.
Added Ctrl + S support inside the Notes app along with a “Notes Saved” notification for a more desktop-like experience.
Improved window management with proper dragging, window focus, and layering so active windows always stay on top.
Polish & Improvements
Unified the color palette across every application.
Refined the overall desktop layout and spacing.
Improved button styling, inputs, and window appearance.
Fixed numerous UI inconsistencies throughout the operating system.
Continued optimizing the codebase while preparing the remaining apps for final polish.

Devlog #5 Today I focused on adding more features to make SPACE OS feel more like a real desktop environment. I added a new Notes application where users can create and save their own notes while using the OS. It was a fun feature to build and makes the project much more useful.I also fixed the Space Missions application and cleaned up a few issues to make it work more smoothly. Another thing I changed was the desktop itself—I removed page scrolling so the screen behaves more like a real operating system.One of the biggest additions was a dock at the bottom of the screen. All of the applications can now be launched directly from the dock, making the desktop much easier to navigate.I also added a right-click context menu. Users can now right-click anywhere on the desktop to refresh the page, open the settings, or change the wallpaper, making the desktop feel much more interactive.Finally, I started working on a startup sequence. There is now a startup button that users can click to boot into SPACE OS, giving the project a more realistic operating system experience right from the beginning.

Devlog 2 – Giving the Sedan Its ShapeI made significant progress on the sedan model by turning the initial vertex layout into a proper 3D mesh. I filled in the faces between the vertices, allowing the model to start taking the recognizable shape of a car instead of just a collection of points.I then refined the positions of the vertices to better match the reference blueprint, improving the overall proportions and silhouette of the sedan. The body now has a much clearer form, making it easier to identify the different sections of the vehicle.To improve my workflow, I also added a Mirror Modifier. This lets me model only one side of the car while Blender automatically mirrors every change to the other side. Devlog 1 – Starting the Sedan Model. I started modeling a sedan in Blender. To ensure the proportions were accurate, I used a sedan blueprint that I found online as a reference. Using a blueprint made it easier to plan the placement of the model’s features before beginning the actual shaping process.
My focus for this session was laying out the vertices for the major parts of the car, including the body lines, windows, headlights, grille, wheel arches, and other key features. At this stage, I wasn’t trying to make the mesh look like a car, instead, I was creating a clean and organized foundation for the model.
This preparation will make the next stages much smoother by providing better topology and making it easier to maintain symmetry while shaping the body.

What I Made: I created SPACE OS, a browser-based operating system inspired by space exploration. Users can interact with different applications on the desktop, including a Space Missions database and a Space Facts generator.

What Was Challenging : The most challenging part was implementing the window system. I had to figure out how to make windows open, close, and be draggable around the screen. Managing multiple applications and making the desktop behave like a real operating system also took a lot of trial and error. I spent a significant amount of time debugging JavaScript and improving the overall user experience.

What I'm Proud Of: I'm most proud of turning a basic personalOS project into something with a clear theme and purpose. Instead of creating random applications, I built an operating system centered around space exploration. I also enjoyed improving the visual design, creating a custom desktop environment, and making the applications interactive rather than static pages.

Devlog #4I spent this final stretch polishing SPACE OS and making sure everything felt complete. Most of the major features were already working, so my focus was on improving the experience and fixing small issues that I noticed while testing.I refined the desktop layout, cleaned up the application windows, and made sure everything opened, moved, and closed properly. I also expanded the content inside the applications. The Space Missions Database now includes several important missions from different countries and organizations, and the Space Facts application provides random facts that make the OS more interactive and fun to explore.A lot of the work during this stage was testing. I kept opening applications, dragging windows around, and checking that everything behaved as expected. There were a few bugs and layout issues along the way, but after some adjustments I was able to get everything working smoothly.With the Welcome Window, Space Missions Database, and Space Facts applications all finished, SPACE OS now feels like a complete project. It’s been really cool seeing it grow from a simple webpage into a small browser-based operating system centered around space exploration.

Devlog #3 - I decided to completely change the OS and make it fully space-themed. Instead of being focused on a variety of interests, the project now revolves around space exploration and astronomy. I updated the design, content, and overall feel of the dashboard to match this new theme.I also added new applications to make the project more interactive. One application lets users explore important moments in space history, while another generates interesting space facts. A lot of my time was spent improving the user experience. Windows can now be moved around the screen, and users can close applications when they are finished with them. These changes make the project feel much more like a real desktop environment.At this point, I’m mostly finishing things up, fixing small issues, and making sure everything works smoothly. The space theme is now the default theme of the project, and I’m really happy with how the whole dashboard has come together.

Devlog #2 - I spent a lot of time working today. At first, I was having trouble getting some parts of the project to work the way I wanted, and I ended up changing quite a few things. I updated the UI, cleaned up the layout, and made the whole dashboard feel more polished.One of the biggest changes was moving my code into separate HTML, CSS, and JavaScript files. It took some time to reorganize everything, but it made the project much cleaner and easier to work with. I also continued improving the live clock and made several small adjustments to the design.There were definitely moments where things broke and I had to go back and fix them, but after a lot of testing and tweaking, I finally got everything working properly. The project now looks much better than it did before, and I’m happy with how it’s coming together.
