A Wifi synced desk clock built using xiao esp32-c3 with a display, custom kicad pcb and 3d printed body.

This project was vetted by Shipwrights and is now up for voting. You can ship again after making more updates.

This needs changes before we can consider it shipped. Review the Shipwright feedback, make updates, then ship again.

Ship #1

For my BLARE project, I made a custom alarm clock using a Seeed XIAO ESP32-C3, a TFT display, buttons, and a buzzer. I wanted to make my own clock instead of just buying one, and I got to work on the electronics, coding, PCB design, and 3D-printed case.

One of the most challenging parts was getting the display and buttons to work properly. I had issues with the screen staying black, wiring, and getting the code to work with my hardware. I had to troubleshoot the connections, test different things, and keep trying even when it didn’t work the first time.

I’m proud that I designed and built most of the project myself and learned more about how hardware and software work together. I also got more experience with KiCad, Arduino IDE, and 3D printing. If I could improve anything, I would make the display easier to fit into the case and keep testing the electronics until everything works reliably.

You can test my project by checking out the design, connecting the electronics, and uploading the firmware to the ESP32-C3. The goal is to have a working alarm clock that displays the time and uses buttons to control its features, with a buzzer for the alarm.

Nice job! Thanks for the quick changes. Approving this, but one small tip to make your repo cleaner: move the folders up into the root folder so you don't have to click into the "BLARE CLOCK" folder to see everything. Have fun building it!

Hey! Nice job on this, I just noticed a few things for you to fix before I can approve this. You're case design is pretty cool, but I don't think it will work as designed, your display slot is too small and doesn't have anywhere for the wires/pins to go, and the hole for your usb port should be bigger to fit the cable. Outside of functionality, you need to upload a .step file of your whole assembly, pcb and display included, so other can understand how everything fits together. You also need to rewrite your README, currently it has no images and doesn't really give a good description. I also want to remind you that you can't use AI for anything in your README. Read this for how to write a good readme https://blare.hackclub.com/docs/submitting-your-project. Thanks!

What a day!! Just finished the project learned a lot of new things took so long to 3d model the body and the write the code but finally done forgot to record 90 minutes of 3d modeling but we learn from our mistakes and just continued done all the prep and designing in 2 days very proud of myself changed the pcb design to my own and made a pretty cool body for the clock excited to get funded. Even though the screen is not centered it took alot of time.
