For my BLARE project, I made a custom alarm clock using a Seeed XIAO ESP32-C3, a TFT display, buttons, and a buzzer. I wanted to make my own clock instead of just buying one, and I got to work on the electronics, coding, PCB design, and 3D-printed case.
One of the most challenging parts was getting the display and buttons to work properly. I had issues with the screen staying black, wiring, and getting the code to work with my hardware. I had to troubleshoot the connections, test different things, and keep trying even when it didn’t work the first time.
I’m proud that I designed and built most of the project myself and learned more about how hardware and software work together. I also got more experience with KiCad, Arduino IDE, and 3D printing. If I could improve anything, I would make the display easier to fit into the case and keep testing the electronics until everything works reliably.
You can test my project by checking out the design, connecting the electronics, and uploading the firmware to the ESP32-C3. The goal is to have a working alarm clock that displays the time and uses buttons to control its features, with a buzzer for the alarm.
