simple-alarm (blare) Devlog #2
I finished the 3d model for the alarm and updated the pcb a bit (mainly to fix the errors).
When I was initially putting together the 3d model (I had zero experience with 3d models and cad) the pcb was not importing due to some errors. I asked ai what was happening and it told me to check for erros in kicad. I did that an it worked!.
I also had many issues with using cad but I was able to learn them along the way with google and ai (you can see it in my lapse, they are all public)
Also I had an issue with the model, when I uploaded the .step model to a random model viewer, it said It had issues with the model. If anyone reading this familliar with this please let me know if this is something to worry about when sending it:
Some edges are shared by more than two facets, which leaves a slicer no single inside to fill.
I would assume programing is next. I hope this is more of a breeze as I have more of a programming background than a 3d modeler or a pcb designer (or whatever you call that). I have never programmed with arduino language but I learned that it is very similar to C and C++ so it should probably be fine.
After 2 hours of messing around with my pcb and schematics I have finally completed the pcb and schematic!!!
I had issues many problems along the way (It was expected since this is my first ever pcb)
I ran into issues with the ratsnest or whatever the blue and red lines were. Pretty much I was following the guide and pressing X to connect pads to pads, but I eventually ran into issues as I created a mess. Blue lines couldn’t reach their final destination. I later figured out how to use via by press V whilst figuring the path.
Another issue I ran into was setting up kicad itself, I needed the kicad-library kicad-library-3d packages which I had missing. So I spent a while setting up kicad.
I plan on deviating from the tutorial when I am building the 3d design for the alarm as I want to make it different from other projects, some of them were really interesting.
I am not 100% sure what programming language I need to use for this (I hope it’s not python)
I learned alot from this, I might continue making pcbs after this project, If I end up finishing it.
Any feedback is welcome! (please, I need it)
