Seal Gaming Utility

  • 1 Devlogs
  • 2 Total hours

Most gaming laptops force you to run heavy OEM bloatware (OMEN Gaming Hub, Armoury Crate, PredatorSense) that wastes gigabytes of RAM and runs dozens of background telemetry processes. Seal is a blazing-fast, single-binary, open-source hardware utility and live in-game overlay built in C# and WPF. It directly communicates with hardware embedded controllers (EC), ACPI methods, and WMI to give you full control with zero bloat: • Instant Fan Profiles: Automatic, max cooling, and customizable fan curves. • Real-Time Telemetry: Live CPU/GPU temps, wattage, clock speeds, and fan RPMs. • Discrete GPU & Power Switching: Eco, Balanced, and Performance modes. • Clean Floating Overlay & Tray Monitor: In-game stats HUD and taskbar temperature display. • Multi-Vendor Support: Engineered for HP OMEN & Victus, ASUS ROG & TUF, and Acer Predator & Nitro laptops.

Ship #1 Pending review

Seal - a small, open source, control centre for HP OMEN/Victus, ASUS ROG/TUF and Acer Predator/Nitro laptops. It manages thermal modes, custom 7 point fan curves, graphics switching, and RGB in one lightweight .

What was hard?
Reverse engineering vendor ACPI WMI and EC registers for various hardware generations to be able to safely inject firmware opcodes that do not conflict with Windows.

What are you proud of?
It is able to replace bloated vendor suites of 1.2 GB + with a superfast 1.6 MB binary that takes up less than 20 MB RAM, has real time fan curve editing capabilities and runs perfectly from the system tray.

What should people be aware of to test?
No installation required. Download Seal.exe from my GitHub , run on Windows 10/11 and test mode cycling or fan curve editing. It even detects your laptop automatically on startup!

Introducing Seal: Replacing OEM Laptop Bloatware with a 1.6 MB UtilityModern gaming laptops cost thousands of dollars, yet OEMs still bundle them with sluggish, bloated background services (OMEN Gaming Hub, Armoury Crate, PredatorSense) that eat up over a gigabyte of RAM, run persistent telemetry, and even push ads.I wanted total control over my machine without the bloat, so I built Seal — a lightweight, single-executable gaming utility written in C# and WPF. It talks directly to the hardware’s BIOS mailbox and ACPI WMI interfaces (hpqBIntM, ASUS_WMI, Acer EC) to control fan curves, switch power profiles, configure RGB keyboards, and monitor real-time temps with zero background services. In this first session, I:Finalized the standalone 1.6 MB executable build with no external dependencies required.Embedded my custom chrome emblem across the app window, navigation rail, and tray telemetry.Tested custom fan-curve logic and thermal safeguards to ensure safe cooling under load.Pushed the source code, build scripts, and multi-vendor hardware documentation to GitHub.Next up: expanding custom hotkey support and fine-tuning the in-game overlay!
