Universal Error Lookup

What did I make?

I made a Universal Error Code Lookup, a web app for developers, which speeds up debugging by turning tedious searches into a single, simple step. It checks http API databases, built-in OS error codes and can query Google Gemini for obscure errors. It also caches results for increased speed. Additionally, the web app allows for users so submit and vote on solutions and even provides deeplinks for easy web searches.

What should people know so they can test my project?

HTTP error codes like 404 or 401 will query the API. Low-level OS error codes will use your system’s own error info to return results. Entering other error codes will query Google Gemini.
Also, try out submitting and voting on solutions and test out the search deeplinks !!

What was challenging?

• Orchestrating lookups and handling their errors. The APIs constantly stopped working with no clear reason. Therefore I organised a fallback structure to handle this and to reduce number of AI API calls.
• Handling DBs safely. I had to constantly change my code to ensure database security and to provide all the necessary results.

What am I proud of?

• I learned new skills. This is the first web application I created myself from scratch. Additionally, this is my first time querying APIs.
• I created a genuinely useful tool. Even when this was still in development, I was using this to help me determine error solutions.
