megpt ship log

finally shipped megpt. it looks like an ai chat interface on the outside, but its actually just a human sitting behind an admin panel replying live in real time.

what got built

• fake ai UI: dark mode layout, custom prompt chips, fullscreen splash video intro on startup
• real-time backend: firestore onSnapshot listeners syncing messages instantly between user and admin
• admin portal (admin.html): hidden dashboard to control responses, delete chats, and reply live
• media support: browser microphone voice memos + client-side canvas compression for images
• easter eggs: typing herobrine triggers a screen glitch effect, creeper triggers aww man
• security lockdown: locked down firestore security rules so only the admin account can edit or wipe database documents (fixed after someone inspected element mid-chat)

lessons learned

• firebase config keys on frontend are fine, but wide open firestore rules will get you audited mid-chat in devtools
• zero-build vanilla js + tailwind is the fastest way to ship a lightweight prototype
