Autonomous Rescue & Extraction Drone is an AI-powered octocopter drone designed to locate victims, deploy a smart human harness, and guide them to safety, at the same time providing immediate medical diagnosis in flood and landslide disaster zones.

Ship #1 Pending review

I modelled this 8 rotor drone in solid edge. it is designed to safely guide people out of disaster like flooding or earthquake.

How it works?
The drone has 3 main sensors, lidar (terrain mapping), uwb radar (human heartbeat), and thermal imaging (body heat), the ai fuses these sensors to locate victim even in absolute terrible weather like storms or smoke. Once the drone has found victim, it lowers a full body harness with a rope to grab the victim and safely move them to safe area. the body harness is equipped with 6.3 inch display, which allow the first responder to provide immediate assistant for the victim using lora communication. The body harness also has built in heart rate sensor and blood saturation sensor in the body mesh, so that the first responder can immediately diagnose the victim. To make repairs and maintainence convenient, there is a hot swappable battery drawer and flight controller drawer on the sides so maintainer can make instant repair for the next round.

This is my first time modelling complex 3d design like this and it turned out way better than i expected lol. so there is definitely alot of things i just learnt and its just fun to design this drone. i thought model like this is impossible for me to make at first. since i cant work on this at school, i had to grind this at home and during weekends lol.

To have a look at this model, i have converted it into a .obj file and uploaded into sketchfab so have a look!! (its in the ‘video of project’ button). However if you want to see every bits of the project you can download all the files on my github repo and install solid edge to open the assembly file. i have also made a pdf slides explaning the model in super detail in my github repo, SO HAVE A LOOK!!

Over the past few days, i worked on the final design of the drone! These are the things added/changed

  1. I finalised the propeller design with aero curve for all 8 propellers.
  2. I added colour to all the parts.
  3. I added a landing gear skid on the bottom for landing
  4. I finalised the assembly file
  5. I’m now working on the presentation slides. so stay tuned!! its so fun

Spent the last 2 days modelling the main chassis design and the 42 inch propeller and its a fun journey lol. I’ve never designed something this complex. That hole is for the battery which can be replaced out. Then on the front face there’s sensor and cameras for UWB Radar for life detection and LiDAR camera for terrain mapping, and also lights.
