Lucky OS!

An operating system running in the web focused on my dawg

Ship #5

I made an webOS that is focused on my dog, Lucky. It has loads of features like changing themes, live wallpapers, apps like:Lucky gallery, web browser, Information, Games, notepad, paint, calculator, User settings, normal settings, terminal and the welcome screen. It also has smaller features like: an clock, an welcome message for the listed username, calendar, almost everything saving to localstorage and smooth hover animations.
I am proud of how good this project turned out and how nice it feels to use it. Making this project was very hard but also very fun.

I added an terminal(so cool) and made the OS an little better by making the taskbar say: hello(your username) So i think this might be my last devlog because the WebOS is starting to be done, but if there needs to be fixes ill do them

I added not one but TWO new apps, first one is an simple calculator, and the other one is an user settings, in user settings you right now can put your username and your birthdate! The cool thing about this is that it higlights your birthday in the calendar! (not my actual birthday, just for show) So that is pretty nice. AND ALSO IT SAVES INTO LOCALSTORAGE BC LOCCALSTORAGE IS THE BEST!!!

FINALLY I GOT IT TO WORK!! I wanted it to be like that the Lucky themes icons are pictures of lucky and the other themes are normal icons, so i did. But there was alot of struggle along the way, first the icons wouldnt change but that was an easy fix, then my script wouldnt find the icons so i tried to fix it, ofcourse i fixed it my style… AKA break all of the backgrounds, break all of the icons, accidentally delete my OG icons, get them back and then it FINALLY worked. So thats that i guess and also (bc i love local storage) i made it so now the chosen style saves into local storage and not default it to Lucky. Then i fixed an little bug where the notes app wouldnt scale correctly. But to make everything work i had to remove the secret :(

First of all, i added an new theme and got rid of the purple theme bc it was pretty bad, and in the progress confused all of my code so when you run the webOS it is completely normal but when you look at my code, glass means space, purple means glass and forest and Lucky are normal. But now it works and that is good enough for me. I might fix it before shipping though. OH and the new theme is an space theme with green and blue colors, not an image but colors (bc purple was just an color).
Also i did an MASSIVE update to Lucky gallery and now theres like 8 more pictures(and some of them are not lucky)
I also added in a little secret when you press one of the themes…
I also added an small live wallpaper function to the Lucky theme so now everything is alive and well!
I ALSO FORGOT TO MENTION IN A PAST DEVLOG THAT THE WINDOWS ARE RESISABLE!
And also i did an little colour change to the taskbar apps (when they are open)

I fixed an bug where the windows could go outside of the desktop.
Added an calendar WIDGET(Not an app) with an ! easter egg in it bc may is my (devs) birthday, you can disable the calendar in the settings app.
Probably the biggest feature i added is the minimize function, you click the “-” next to the X button and then the window gets minimized and appears in the taskboard.(So cool:O)
Then i also made the window design an bit different and now it is like kinda seethrough and blurry (i still kept the purple theme bc it makes this OS unique) And i was inspired by macOS for this style bc i think it looks nice.
I also added animations for the wallpaper changing and added MOVING WALLPAPERS(kinda) i made an animation for the wallpapers so they would move slowly left to right and right to left and it makes the os feel nice.

I added an little hover animation to the desktop icons so the OS feels more responsive!
And the biggest upgrade is that there now is an minimize button on all of the windows so the OS is more OSy. And alongside of the minimize button i added so now the windows on the bottom go on top of the other windows when interacted with!
I put little arrows where all the interesting stuff happens.

I added an “Lucky Paint” where you can paint masterpieces in various colours and clear the canvas if you dont like it, and THEN (drum roll) YOU CAN SAVE THEM IN PNGS! I know i know its cool (in my opinion the coolest app in the whole OS) But more cool things await in the future. And also i made it so the clock and date are in the taskbar and not in the middle of the screen.

I fixed both things that i didnt like! First i made the app names to behave by adding them to their individual divs (I think i had deleted them accidentally or something but it works now) And then i styled the notepad abit, i added an saved and not saved text in css and made it work in javascript. Im thinking of either adding smooth animations to the OS or adding an paint app that saves your masterpieses to your PC…

I added an new “Notepad” App where you can write anything and then press save and then it saves it to localstorage and even if you refresh the site, it stays! But the thing is, its not really… Nice looking? I mean yeah it gets the job done but its just plain white so im thinking about styling it an bit. Also an thing that irritates me is that the app names are tweaking out but it should be an easy fix in the next devlog.

Ship #4

This part is from the README cuz im lazy:I made an web OS that is themed about my dog Lucky, it has 4 working apps. 1 Welcome screen that has an picture of an duck and text. 2 Lucky gallery, that has pictures of Lucky and text about what is happening. 3 info, the app has info about me and an picture of lucky (of course). 4 games, the games app has links that directs the user to try my other projects. The OS has an purple theme and it also has an task bar that has reminders for the user. All of the windows are draggable, closeable and openable. I USED AI TO HELP ME UNDERSTAND THE CODE BECAUSE THIS WAS MY FIRST CODING PROJECT!!! I DIDNT USE AI TO CODE THE PROJECT!
I mostly used the guide for the webOS but i made it my own with features not in the guide. I am proud of myself for being able to make this web OS while learning how to code.
I also made it so the windows are scrollable and that there is an top bar where you can drag or close the window

I remowed the white block that was blocking the screen, also added an clock to the top left(it will look better in the future), added an draggable window that you can drag with the picture of my dawg(im thinking about changing it for an different picture of him) made the task bar or what i made it “reminder and activity bar” actually work and not be gliched out all the time.

i added fun liitle messages to the top bar and added an picture of my dog sleeping upside down(fun thing is he is by my side while im writing this) but this hour was mostly just debugging and stuff. The main problems are that there is a giant white baron the bottom for some reason and my window doesnt have an background so my dogs nose camoflauges the text but there is an easy fix to that (hopefully)

The OS has an purple background that acts like an wallpaper. Im really proud of this because it is my first HTML coding experience.
