Bionic Butterfly

I am building a Bionic Butterfly which is a kinetic robotic butterfly inspired by nature and futuristic engineering. The butterfly uses a lightweight copper wire frame with translucent wings illuminated by RGB LEDs that I will program. s microcontroller controls a servo powered wing mechanism that creates smooth, lifelike flapping motions. The project uses electrical engineering, mechanical designing, and programming into a sculpture. My goal from this is to learn about robotics, electronics, and mechanisms.

Devlog 1 Planning and CAD designing. For my project I’m making a butterfly from copper(for the body and wings), thin wire(in order to pull the wings up and down maybe even giving them a wider motion), an Arduino Nano (for the brains), Mirco servo that will attach to the wires. Right now i’ve been designing the shape that i’ll be molding the copper into on OnShape. Seeing how i’ll get everything on there aswell. There will also be LEDs connected to it to give it a futuristic look i’m mixing it also with an older mechanical look. The whole thing will go on a stand you can turn on like a lamp and i am seeing if i make it more complicated by adding a nob for speed and or brightness.
