“Devlog” 2

Unfortunately, the intake I had previously designed had a few major flaws, that being the way it was powered(through box tube) and the actual design itself being sub optimal for intaking(ironic, I know).

I ended up designing another intake, this one being a four bar, but sadly I didn’t do any research or measurements before I started, so that design didn’t work either.

The new design is still a slap-down, though i would love to eventually upgrade to a linear system(hint hint) in the near future. This current intake is set on a raised mount that comes up from the box tube on which the front left(for now) swerve module is situated.

I have yet to start the power train for either of my subsystems, but that will be something I will get to on the next “devlog”.

Make sure you follow this project, I’m having lots of fun and I hope you will too!

Devlog - 01

I am making an FRC(First Robotics Competition) robot using OnShape CAD(computer aided design). So far I have designed the chassis, consisting of 4 SDS(Swerve Drive Specialties) Mk41 swerve(a type of omnidirectional drive train) modules and box tube, bumpers, which protect the bot during a match, and a slap down, over-the-bumper intake, which will help get game pieces into the robot.

That is all for now, although this project will continue over the summer.
