For the GMTK Game Jam 2026, I made a game with < 8 colors. The theme of the Jam was “Count Down.”

I made a game where you are a ghost who tries to help his living roommate escape before the timer “counts down” to daybreak.

The overall idea is good, but many of the details and features of the game are very rough, as I did not have much time to make a solid project. Some future improvements I would make are adding a tutorial, and explaining the story a bit more.

I still am proud of what I have made, so try it out and let me know what you think!

GMTK Game Jam - Added Final Touches
I added some final touches to the game play to ensure everything was playable, such as exporting and testing a web build, uploading to itch.io, and creating a README for the Github. Everything is working and the game is being played by many people. Yay

GMTK Game Jam - Devlog 2

I have added a few new features, and moved the UI around for the entire game to be only 1 screen.

Right now, there are a few interactable objects, and light sources that you can turn on that will emit light. That took the longest time to implement. I have also added:

  • A custom cursor
  • A character that moves in a predetermined path
  • Logic to take care of the character until they leave the house.

I still have to think of a title, but otherwise the game is almost finished. I just have to add some final touches then playtest the game.

GMTK Game Jam - Devlog 1

I made a simple game idea for this jam, and to save time will leverage some sourced assets. Currently the basics of player movement is done, and there is a rudimentary day/night cycle implemented. I plan to flesh out the idea more in the next few days, and make a bigger story.

I made an incremental clicker game where you experience the harsh results of applying to jobs. Work hard, apply a lot, and complete projects to maximize your chances of landing an offer!

This game was created for The Very Serious Juniper Dev Game Jam, which meant I had 7 days to create a game with the theme “spin to win.” It was challenging to bring this all together in 7 or so days, but the community I had in-person and online helped me finish this project.

I have had this game playtested a few times to be able to find soooo many bugs, graphical issues, and suggestions. Because of this, I am very proud of what I have made. Please play it on itch.io using the buttons, and feel free to check out the code in Github. This entire game was made using the Godot Game Engine.

Final Devlog

There was some issues with linking my game, but now everything is set, and I even did some more optimizations. Please play my game on itch.io, and you can see the github with all my code linked as well.

In This Economy!? - Devlog 5

Yay, it’s done. Please play it and provide feedback so that I can make the game better in the future!

  • Itch.io page is finished up
  • Added 2 more tracks
  • Added some more sound effects
  • Added a tutorial at the beginning of the game
  • Fixed some more bugs and graphical issues
  • Game works on mobile, and desktop (mouse and spacebar works)
  • Added achievements to track the player’s progress
  • Added another minigame project, each with their own win and death screens now.
  • Some Final QOL stuff to finish

There are some minor graphical issues, but they are mainly unnoticable. I also plan to improve the performance of the game in the backend after this project is shipped :)

Thanks!

In This Economy!? - Devlog 4

I did a ton of more changes again, but mainly it’s just Quality of Life stuff, mainly from my friends playtesting the game for me:

Big Changes:

  • 2 More music tracks and 10 more paper sounds added
  • Added a start screen that players can type into
  • Added a new project minigame to balance out the game in general

Smaller Changes:

  • The game is more balanced
  • Replaced the Quit button with a Credits button because this game will be played on the web
  • Changed the projects tab to be more understandable

[PLACEHOLDER] - Devlog 3

I added a bunch of things, because I’m nearing the deadline (only 2 days left :0)

Big changes:

  • Added a lot of SFX and Music, mostly done by me but also sourced from online
  • Added more art for projects and the background using Aseprite
  • Added Title Screen with start and quit buttons
  • Added End Screen for when you win the game
  • Made my first project for the projects tab
  • Made more active UI
  • How To Play section is complete
  • Updated the layout entirely

QOL stuff:

  • Added settings for Music and SFX in the settings section
  • Added Credits
  • Entire project is organized to make things easier to access
  • Scrolling background in the main menu, along with custom shader and particle animations just for fun
  • Better animations so that things don’t suddenly appear or disappear

Still have a lot more things to do, but it should be doable yay.

Added more functionality:

  • There is now a tab system that players can click through
  • Base upgrades are now available, and are functional
  • Changed a few sprites to make disabled button sprites, and fit the theme more of applying to jobs

I plan to add more places to spin, as that’s a key mechanic for this game.
I want it to be as accessible too, so a tutorial is also necessary to make at some point.

Currently don’t have much done, but added some basic spin functionality, along with some pass and fail results. There isn’t much else yet, but I plan to add some upgrades and make the sprites a little better before the 7th day. Don’t have a name yet.

This is a game I am working on that combines both rhythm and incremental genres to make something that remains fun over time. Currently, I am reworking my core mechanic as it doesn’t feel as fun as I want it. I’m experimenting with a match 3 mechanic to hopefully get some fun gameplay!
