Coding's kinda cool isn't it 😎!

This time I made updates to my personal website to add more custom details to it to take it up a notch.
I strictly used HTML and CSS for this website and added more cool features to it like - adding more images to the existing gallery section, a custom mini blog section to share a beautiful day with you guys and the thing I am most happy about - the flip-card spotlight section which is really cool and I made it without JavaScript but the custom typing in the image details was very hard.
The main issue I ran into while making this was the image fittings in my columns but I got through that , would love to continue adding more cool features and elements to it later on. Almost forgot I also added a custom greetings banner to show my gratitude to the visitors.
Finally all the external website links and stylings are working perfectly hope you guys love it!

Today I fixed the flip-card which I added to my site for giving it a more awesome and custom look but it needed more attention so I added the radio-button in CSS to give it smooth animation without using JavaScript and I ran into many issue where the images for the flip-card didn’t fit properly so I fixed that. I also cleaned up my personal website to ensure no error occur while running the website. Finally I updated the Readme now it is fully functional and ready to be shipped!!!!

Today I fixed the NASA API authentication issue for my command : /chalant-bot-21-nasa because I used the demo API from NASA to fetch the images but it was a huge mistake as the demo URL has only limited amount of access due to busy network so to fix this issue I added my own NASA API to get the APO details and I ran into another issue where the image shown for the nasa command was the default NASA logo so I added a image source for that and now my bot is live once again and works perfectly in case the site is still showing 404 error , I added a clean fallback message for that as well.

I made Cosmic Lens using the guide of “ give your website a pulse “ provided by Stardance and I really wanted to make it awesome but I am a complete newbie to coding but even though I tried really hard for this and I am satisfied with the result.
My website draws images from NASA’s APOD so you can view them in my style and it has a random button that lets you view a cosmic picture taken on any random day in case you don’t know what date to search for , I also added a custom greeting for the visitors .I look forward to adding more cool features to the site when I am able to grasp the concepts of coding more well.
The main issue I ran into while making the website fully functional was the API issues that some images were showing 404 error only for specific dates then I learned that they were not images but videos or sonification audio that was why there was the error so I fixed it by providing external links for those specific dates as well as fallback for the error. Then I ran into another problem that some older dates were also showing the error then I learned it was because the images of older dates had different URLs so I fixed it by providing an external link directly for NASA’s APOD and fallback for error for it as well so you can view it directly.
I learned so much from doing this project I really learned a lot about JavaScript and styles CSS.
Thanks to Hack Club for giving me this chance I am looking forward to make more cool projects in the future!!

Just had to fix some styling issue because the images were of different sizes and I also added cool hover effect to the images as well now all that is left is to clean up the site properly and it will be ready to ship!!

Today I updated my Readme for this project to include some important stuff such as the Self host section which I didn’t know about earlier but learned from the review and followed the instruction for shipping a slack-bot from the guide provided by stardance . I also updated my demo url for the project and added a screenshot of my bot running live , in GitHub. Now you can test if out yourself !!!

Today I added a custom greetings popup to my website to give it a more personalized look . Also I added new elements such as the another section containing my mini vlog and updated my contact section. Also I added a Flip-card which is a really cool feature I think but it needs more work and I have to fix it asap because the end is near!! This project really teaches me a lot about style css and html and I will make it more awesome .

I made Chalant-Bot-21, a persistent slack bot running 24/7 on a linux cloud instance!
It contains interactive slash commands for cat facts, dog pics for dog lovers, fun activities suggestion, and daily NASA’s APOD , the commands for all these are -

  • /chalant-bot-21-catfact
  • /chalant-bot-21-dog
  • /chalant-bot-21-activity
  • /chalant-bot-21-nasa
Some other cool features about my bot are some of these hype and utility commands -
  • /chalant-bot-21-ping
  • /chalant-bot-21-namaste
  • /chalant-bot-21-hype
  • /chalant-bot-21-help
You can test it out in slack by typing “ /chalant-bot-21-help “ and see all the options.

The hard part about making this process was probably getting the background systemd service properly configured so it stays alive 24/7 but with the help of the guide I got through that.
Feeling super proud that socket mode is locked in and it responds instantly without dropping!!!!

Today I got my .env file written and locked down without breaking a sweat. Also I wired up my system service so my bot runs 24/7 in the background without need to open my terminal also coded and pushed fresh nasa, catfact, dog, activity commands onto my codebase which are now very cool special feature of my bot. Finally updated my help menu and successfully restarted the service so everything’s synced and ready to go!!

Today I started building a Slack bot from scratch using the provided guide’s help. I setup .env security to protect API tokens also dodged all the sneaky hyphen vs underscore command errors in the Slack API dashboard. I also coded a whole menu of custom slash commands including ping latency checkers, namaste greetings, and hype generators. Also levelled up by pulling live API data with Axios to drop random cat facts directly into Slack channels. Super fun so far!!!

Worked on the API integration today so it handles both new and old space data smoothly. Ran into a weird bug where older dates kept showing random NASA logo placeholders instead of actual pictures. Added some validation logic to catch those placeholders before they break the image tags. Set up clean fallback links too, so if a record doesn’t have a direct image file, it just sends you straight to the original NASA page.

Spent today polishing up the stylesheet to ensure the starry background animation and button hover effects render smoothly. Fixed a couple of small typos in the CSS properties that were stopping image scaling from working properly. Switched over to main.js to track down a trick variable capitalization bug that broke the random date generator. Cleaned up the API fetch logic to handle 404 errors gracefully without crashing the UI. Finally tested everything locally and pushed the clean code to GitHub Pages.

Today, I finally fixed my image gallery by organizing all my bird photos into a local folder. I renamed the image files and updated the HTML paths so every single picture loads cleanly on the page. After that I committed the progress and pushed to GitHub. It feels great to see all the six birds showing up properly now.

Today I fixed the audio and non-YouTube videos which were glitching out because my conditional logic lumped them together incorrectly.
Fixed it by cleaning up the tags, swapping the colon, and splitting videos into their own separate condition.
Booted it up on localhost and everything is finally rendering clean cards and working media links. Hope this is the final ship for this project. 💫

Added a custom greetings popup to give Cosmic Lens a warm, personal touch! Fixed a CSS bug where the popup styling was trapped inside a mobile media query. I also resolved a JavaScript selector typo and removed it from JavaScript so the popup only depended on index.HTML so the close button works smoothly. Also cleaned up robotic AI comments and removed divider lines from the code. Finally ready to reship with a personalized README and an authentic codebase!

I built XIAO-MAO, an interactive desktop cat pet developed in Godot!
Getting the input handling right was the trickiest part. Initially dragging the pet or dropping her would accidentally trigger her to open my website. Adding right clicks (website link) using precise input logic took some debugging. Also the main issue I ran into while working on this project was getting the sizes of the window correct but i eventually figured it out. I am really proud of making a complete, functional desktop pet from scratch and getting my very first virtual pet project published! Her working behavior turned out super clean. Download: cat_pet.exe from my itch.io page. Controls: 1. Right click to open my custom website.
2. Click & Drag to move her anywhere across the screen.
OS: Windows PC.

Today I worked on refining my desktop cat’s movements and interactions. I fixed the landing behavior so the cat rests cleanly right above the Windows taskbar when dropped . I also fixed the code so my cat will open my website only when right clicked . Lastly I updated the export setup and published the final standalone build on itch.io <3

I scaled up my desktop pet cat sprite and updated the collision shape to restore smooth drag-and-drop functioning. Also fixed the idle animation freeze by adding timer countdown logic and correcting a variable name typo. Added a cool feature for my pet from the given guide , I think it is really thoughtful that they included how to add more interesting features to the desktop pet in the guide so we all can level up our project !

Added boundary movements and drag controls. Resolved node hierarchy paths by just dragging it onto the main node, mismatched animation name from the guide (silly me) by just inserting my name in the code , and runtime errors. Fixed active debugger pauses and successfully got up to point 6 in the guide lets see if I can ship it before playground ends. lol !!
