Merge!!

no more experimental-go branch the go rewrite has been merge to the master branch along with the new releases 0.4.0 with support for windows too!.
the documentation is currently wip so no doc yet sadd T_T but that the next thing am working on

after the go rewrite i have now implement 3 core function back but with some changes from zig version so when the go merge it will be a breaking changes

• http_set_status(status: int) let you set http response code such as 404 500 403
• http_content_type(type: string) let you set content type header for usecase like json api
• http_header_add(key: string,value: string) let you add to the headers

i also implement require for loading module and bring back hol now as htmlkit

so yea looking forward to merge the go branch into main in a few days but it will 100% be a breaking changes not that who cared anyways except me cuz am the only one using it and now i have to fix my code

Sadly, There is such thing as a wrong decision

when i first set out to make zolt i figure it will be a good place to learn zig i mean it such a small project just a simple http server that execute lua. but then i started using it myself and kept needing more feature but sadly even tho this project started as a way to learn zig. i just didn’t really click with it thus when implementing feature i kept having to relies a lot on codex.

So what?

so i started a new branch call experimental-go that contain a go rewrite of zoltd plan to be as much backward compatible as possible but not fully as zig zoltd use luau while go zoltd use gopher lua but otherwise i will try and implement all function in zig

Naming

even tho the project is being rewritten in go. the name will still remain zolt cuz golt sound worse

What zolt go version like right now

i just implement a lua runtime based on gopher-lua and implement 2 function echo() and print()

after fighting with codex a thousand time and fighting with xcode swiftui i finally has a working arduino ide in swiftui yayyy

Looking GoOooOooD

so yea just refine the board manager by using NavigationSplitView and searchbar inside sidebar and you can now upgrade or downgrade platform version

Board Manager

well we now have a board manager prototype
this take a lot longer than expect as i call Create rpc and not Create then Init rpc and arduino grpc document is like nothing so i spend an hour making codex fetch board from wrong rpc as i use BoardListAll instead of PlatformSearch

Umm sadly i need to rewrite

so the old codebase was a mess so i decided to reset and build sketchpad2 which is going better cuz instead of trying to figure out swift my self and shoot myself in the foot a thousand time i decide to let codex help me implement my idea instead and yea i will shelf learning swiftui myself later when i got more free time and not trying to make arduino editor to use in my project

so from the reset i change the app to be document app and decided against NavigationSplitView and just use a plain simple editor view toolbar

HOL (Html On Lua)

so from the last ship someone suggest that there should be a tsx like syntax that allow you to write html easier and i agree with that writing the whole layout in echo is a pain so i make hol a pretty simple html builder that ship with zolt so you can just import it anywhere without having to download it
and am looking forward to add more feature such as native support for each element instead of H(“h1”) you can just do h1(“Header”) something like that

Code Editorrrrr

so i just setup https://github.com/mchakravarty/CodeEditorView and now you can create new sketch edit and save it well it a really basic editor right now but am working on implementing thing like autocomplete and syntax highlight

Basic Sketch Creation

so i implement this modal that let you type in sketch name and select the path to create and then sent those over to arduino cli to create the sketch and yea it works!

So umm i hate swiftui

for some reason a picker inside the sidebar cannot show an icon but a picker inside a toolbar in the sidebar can so as much as i hate it i put it there

the human is unable to type-check this expression in reasonable time

so for today it 1 hour of making the layout for sidebar and 3 hour of fighting with swiftui
but oh well so for the first 3 hour i been spending time trying to understand why doesn’t my bootstrap code get ran when app start but for some reason if i return an emptyview it doesn’t run but if i return it anything even a text it will ran so yea i still dont know why so not gonna comment much on that

but rn the app is one window group it route to 2 view bootstrap and main based on boolean inside controller and inside main i try to start working on the layout

tbh i kinda hope i did more today. but it is what it is and yea that what i did today

Sketchpad !!

so i like arduino but arduino ide? not so much so i wanted to make an alternative for the ide in swiftui so i founded out that there something call arduino-cli which basically is arduino backend so you can do things like boards management and compile upload via the cli (well that for human) but for us instead of calling the cli and parse the stdout we can use the gRPC interface instead so you run the cli as a daemon and use gRPC to talk so with this devlog i made a swiftui app that when start download the arduino-cli and run it as a daemon and create grpc client and connect to it.

i added new api to the lua vm call request.query it accept 1 parameters field: string and return a string so if your url is host/?field1=value running request.query(“field1”) will return “value”

Pink goes good with green

well after last devlog i decided that white is boring so i change my site background color to pink

why pink?
yk it pink why not? but well if there must be a reason it cuz there a stamp thing as my logo and it deep green so idk i just thought pink like it elphaba and glinda and well the outcome is good tbh anything is better than boring white

Chagee Together!

so i make a new page in my personal site that am really proud that is chagee receipt
umm so first of all chagee is a milktea brand and they have an app that you can order and it will have a history so i reverse engineer the app api
which is quite hard as the app use flutter which doesn’t really want to work well with proxy so i try using tool that will force that but it doesn’t really work so am about give up
but then i found out there a web version that also use flutter but the http request shown up in network tab so yea there that i map out the api format and stuff
then i write a cloudflare worker that will request the api then forward it to the site the reason am not directly fetching api from the app in my site is just there auth token and am pretty sure (not tested yet) that you can just do a POST to api that order the drink
so yea also from the last devlog to this one i have been reworking my personal site by :

• break up script and styling into smaller modular file
• use turbo frame for sidebar component
• new page structure with sidebar instead

Projects!

i added a new page to my personal site that will display my projects at first i just make a list with clickable link seem okay at first but it just is too simple so i been trying some effect and shader but still doesn’t quite like it until i scroll on twitter and find a post about ibooks wood bookcase i was like that could work as a projects page for the implementation it just a picture with grid on top

i have added new entry to documentation such as installation using the new install script and your first zolt web guide along with lua api reference.

for the zolt i have move status() and header() api into response.status() and response.header() to align more with request.path() and change webroot from current working dir to config parent dir.
