Devlog #1

I am working on a Roguelike game (Name will be decided later). The game will include a few dungeon levels, as well as a boss at the end.

Currently I’m working on a prefab for the levels, as seen in the screenshot. I’ve also already created the character and wrote a PlayerMovement script. The Player also has animations. The Assets are from itch.io (I’ll drop the links to them in my README, once I’ve created it)

My next task will be creating the mobs and in additon to that a sort of combat system

Ship

This is the second ship. Many important modifications have been made. These things have been added to the game since the last ship:

- A difficulty switch
- Highscore
- PlayerPrefs for the difficulty and the highscore
- Music and sound effects

And the most important note:

The game is now playable on itch.io. If the game somehow doesn't open up via stardance, here is the link:

I’ve fixed some error during the gameplay. The game is finished!

It’s not beautiful, but for my very first Unity project good enough. Once I’m able to ship again, I’ll do it

The difficulty switch works and even after a reset or restart of the game, the previous difficulty gets saved.

The same goes for the highscore that actually works!!!!

What I should implement next is the highscore based on the difficulty, but that is for later

I’ve made some changes to the game:

  • Improved starting screen
  • Added a difficulty switch

Difficulty:

There are 3 options. Easy, Medium, Hard. Medium is the standard option. They all influence the speed as well as the spawn rate of the pipes

Issues for the future:

If you restart the game after the game over, the difficulty gets set to Medium. Probably the fix would be to have some data saved for after the restart. This is also my current idea how I’ll make the high score. Or maybe some sort of database would make it easier

I’m working on the starting screen. I had also fixed some unknown issues with the bird. It cannot leave the screen now and the game over mechanic works a lot better

Ship #1

I have finished the tutorial and added some stuff on my own. This is the first version of my Flappy Bird game. It's playable and kinda fun.

Although it's not on the same level as a finished game, so please consider this as a demo (v1). It won't take long until I manage to add more stuff to make it more interesting to play

I created a starting screen (WITHOUT A TUTORIAL) and connected everything to it.

It was a lot harder than expected, because everything runs on Start function, so I had to edit every object.

This concludes the first version of this game. Yeah it’s not beautiful, but it’s functional. The other To-Do’s will be added in further versions!

So I finished the tutorial…

The game exists and now I have some knowledge about Unity and Game Development.

Now I will add some additional stuff to this game to finish it.

These include:

  • Starting Screen
  • High Score
  • Difficulties (change speed of the game)
  • Music

If you have some ideas, please comment them. I’ll try my best, but can’t promise anything

I’m starting out with Unity. And what is the best option to choose, when you’re starting out? Watch a Flappy Bird tutorial and hope you understand everything, so that you can add your own stuff at the end…

I want to create my own games, but have no clue how Unity works. This project is focused on helping me learn all the basics and be able to create my own games from then on.

Even though I’m using a tutorial to create this game, I’m planning on using my knowledge to upgrade the game with a few features to market it as my own ;)

I had problems exporting the files. Due to a previous problem Fusion 360 was turned offline and I didn’t realize it. Then I lost all the files and had to beg the spirits of my laptop to recover them.

Everything worked out and I finally finished the Case step and can move to the firmware part

Devlog #Help me

I decided to change my PCB. From the Tutorial Version to a 3x3 one. So I had to learn how to design this and how to do it with a matrix. It was easier than expected (hopefully I did everything correctly)

But now I’m at the same problem as before. Put the plate on the case.

My issues are the holes for the screws and how to actually design them and not just create huge holes and extrude them to the max and how to properly put the plate for the PCB on the case, so that it will actually work

I’m currently learning how to use Fusion. I tried my best somehow designing the case, but I had a lot of difficulties. I hope I’ll somehow manage to build and ship this project in the near future…

Devlog #01

I tried to determine the guitar string played with the frequencies of a 2 second audio (wav file).

There are many issues with the audio quality which causes the program to just think there’s no noise and fail. I tried many attempts to improve the quality as well as the volume, but this just worked for 3 out of the 6 open strings.

Right now the goal is to reach the 6 open strings. After that I’ll go for the variations.

If you have some suggestions or have done something like this before, I would gladly accept any help possible ;)

Today I started with my first project on hackclub. My goal is to create a macropad. I follow the given guide and instructions to do so.

I learned how to use kicad and designed my very first PCB. With a lot of attempts I finished to somehow design it, but I had many issues, but I’m determined to continue and hopefully even finish this project/mission in the next days
