SCHOOOOOOL IS OVERR!!!!!!!!!
yessir, you heard that right, and with school finally over
I can NOW DO AS MANY HOURS AS I WANT, so as soon as i woke up like 8 am ish i coded till 9pm!!! Although that plan could backfire on me as well i could burn out easily.
I added a full-screen island, quarry system, teleporter progression, backpack/inventory, unlock phases, tools, upgrades, buildings, huts, villagers, worker roles, resource automation, island progression, and better saving. The game went from “click tree get wood” → “build a colony, manage resources, unlock areas, and expand your island”
So, I have been noticing that my devlogs have been all just tell and not show, so heres a video with all my updates
Alright..
So some kinda big changes? (idk you can be the judge of that)
I basically upgraded Island Builder from a basic clicker into an actual progression game 😭😭. I made the island full screen, added a whole quarry area, added the teleporter system (250 wood unlock → shop + teleport), then I added a backpack where you can store/use items, added the “1 new item” notification, made stone only obtainable in the quarry, added mining/tool progression, expanded the shop with more upgrades, added better resource systems, and upgraded saving so it remembers your progress, items, upgrades, and unlocks.
So, ig this is it for now, but i took 7 hrs MAINLY because of BUGS ✌️😭
Idk why the value of the pickaxe shows as that, but its smth i gotta fix. Ill keep you posted on that.
I only meant to work for 6 hours today, but the wakatime counter shows 5hr 20 mins, idk what happened there..
anyway i made some big changes, firzt of all (yes ik not a typo) I fit the tree image which u click to get wood in to the entire screen so it fits all 4 corners, then i added a menu which shows ur stats in a little box, but here comes THE BIG change. I added a teleporter!!! With that, you can tp to different areas which you unlock with the currencies in the game, I havent gotten to the part where the teleporter takes you to the area but ill do today.
I have to do 9 - 10 hours a day so i can reach my goal of potentially getting a macbook in 30 ish days.
Heres my progress: Built and stabilized the core island resource loop with wood + stone systems, upgrade scaling, and persistent save/load functionality. Prepared architecture for future world expansion systems like teleporter and multi-zone gameplay.
ik that everything looks the same but its the core functions that have changed. Tommorow i will introduce some new css styles.. (stay tuned!!)
Sooo, DAY 7..
Kind of a important milestone and so for that reason, I locked in and now I have gotten 6 hours..
I made 7 major changes, so lets just get into the first one (this is gonna be a long list).
- Finally found all 10 assets, and added them.
- Scrapped game logic and redid it.
- Fixed new variables for new upgrades.
- Gave everything a price refresh.
- Stone can be used to help you to buy upgrades now.
- The clicker is now a tree (click to get wood)
- AND FOR THE GRAND FINALE…… (I will reveal in the next devlog)
So, I just wanted to say that thank you for all the supporters (1 follower for island builder and 1 like for island builder).
My next plans are to make different spawn points and then u can teleport to build buildings and get wood, maybe some areas that can be unlocked which unlocks secret abilites… (these are all just ideas, I am still wondering whether to add them)
should I make this my miner asset??
Made my assets.. (technically not this picture is from google uhh forgot to mention that i quit after trying to learn how to make it good thank you @baker for reminding me in comments!
And in other news (I redeveloped the entire shop system and renewed the pricing)
heres a sneak peak (im too lazy to input in my code ill do later)
So, some very important changes. First of all, I’m not making a cookie clicker anymore, mainly because thats too generic and simple to make, and I dont think that will let me become closer to my goal of getting a macbook.
Alright, I first needed an idea, and after some blatant thinking, I figured out that making something like Island Builder would be nice. So, basically what it does is it lets you start off clicking a tree for wood, and that wood is how your going to build your island, I also added a secondary resource otherwise known as, stone.
Stone lets you buy upgrades like lumberjack for cps, or worker for even more cps.. I know that the upgrades are a bit limited right now, but give me some time and ill make it great
Its not looking real good right now, but thats only because the css and assets arent at that point yet, well the thought of making assets had not even dawned on me. Maybe I should make some.
Fixed and improved 53 bugs and counting, took me 2 hours 😭😭. Not proud, but it is what it is.. (time counter isnt really working, idk why) Heres a pic:
So, made many fixes to the game, added REAL animations that make the shop slide, and added stats and save game. ill continue my 2 hrs later….
Well, made some significant changes to the cookie clicker. For starters, the cookie is now animated!!, there is a entire shop panel that is retractable (which is also animated) and then the upgrades were listed with pricing and effects! This was a HUGE update to my first clicker and it took ages.. Minus some setbacks..
Anyhow, I did the maths and for me to reach the minimum 256 hours to eventually try and purchase the macbook air, I need to be doing 3 hrs and 8 mins of coding per day. I dont know if I can do that many hours, especially since im on a tight schedule with school, gym and all that but I just have to find a way to manage.
Heres a video of the Cookie Clicker! + my hackatime info.
Spent an HOUR (yes very long) just fixing errors and adding new stuff anyway heres my progress:
Devlog 1: I am new to coding but I have made 2 projects entirely dependent on AI, but this time im going to make it completely by myself though I dont really know how to commit or push my repo by myself I shall learn.
Today was day 1 of my journey to making a cookie clicker in hopes of trading all my future hours of hard work for a Macbook Air. So, as soon as I woke up, I grinded on codedex, and learnt Javascript and made my first official beta version of the cookie clicker.
Tommorow, or later today I will learn HTML and make the v2 with proper styling and all that.
