Checking school information on a phone should be simple. BetterW4 turns UWC Red Cross Nordic’s school website into a personalised native app, making it easier to find your schedule and access everyday school resources.
Three major quality-of-life improvements:
One combined timetable: Academic classes and extracurricular activities appear together, with subject colours and a Today overview. Students can see their day without switching between separate schedules.
Offline access: Previously loaded information is cached locally, so students can check their timetable and other saved school information without reliable internet.
Lessons at a glance: Home-screen and lock-screen widgets, plus an optional Live Activity, show the current or next lesson with a countdown. Students can quickly check their schedule without opening the app.
BetterW4 also brings assessments, grades, mail, campus information, and school resources into native screens. Automatic sign-in handles expired sessions, reducing repeated trips through the login process.
I spent 13 hours and 17 minutes building and preparing the iOS app for release, published it on the App Store, and distributed it to approximately 84 students who use iOS.
