Custom Pet

I am just making a custom pet via a Godot script!

Ship #1 Pending review

I made a Desktop pet that takes the sprite of Sans the Skelton from Undertale as my playground project and it was fun to make. The challenges that I experienced during the production of the project, not knowing how to interpret parts of the code, because some of it didn’t make sense. For example if I wanted to add functionality; I didn’t know that I could use a function such as _unhandled_input to handle inputs such as performing a certain action if a key is pressed. Thankfully, after reading the Godot documentation, and watching a couple of YouTube videos alongside a couple google searches I was able to overcome my challenges. Finally, I would say that I am proud because I was able to make a desktop pet, and now I get to see sans walk across my Desktop.

Devlog 2 Final devlog: I have worked on the pet and have decided that this will be the final devlog for stardance. I will continue to update the program, but due to time constraints I can’t keep making devlogs for this project in star dance. Great news is that I was able to add a menu that allows you to quit the game. Figured out how the @onready works how to handle inputs and other things; code seems a bit more oraganzied now. Sans now has a timer that says, I’m sans.

Dev 1: In this devlog I was able to change the sprite to sans, changed the movement so that it only went in one direction. The guide was right it was supposed to be Vector2(1,0) not Vector(1,1) so that it could move smoothly in one direction instead of going off in all directions. Next, Sans can tell the user the time based on their own PC time when left clicked on. Also, sounds makes his iconic noise eeee when left clicked on. Now for the next devlog, the goals will to optimize the code in a way that it allows for sans to do more actions such as fall onto the taskbar, or create a popup screen that allows to quit the program or that could maybe change the sprite to Chara or any another Undertale characters.

Just working to see how the DeskPet will work, so this will be the prototype. By following the guide I was able to get to the part where the sprite can move all across. There was some issues with following the code because, I had to change direction to Vector2(1,1) instead of keeping it at Vector2(1,0), so that the sprite can move in all directions. Hopefully for the next devlog I am able to move the sprite more gracefully, and there is interaction when I click on it or drag it. As I plan, to make, characters like sans or Chara, fight or do other animations.
