Hi everyone, I’m going to design and build an RC plane. I tried doing this last summer, but I didn’t succeed because I didn’t know how to use Fusion 360 very well. I won’t need funding for the project since I already have all the necessary components (servos, battery, motors).

By the end of this project, the plane will be fully assembled, wired, and completely functional. However, I won’t be able to perform the flight test until Christmas for two reasons: 1) I live in Genoa, which is a “red zone” for drones (RC planes are classified as drones), and there aren’t any suitable flying areas nearby; 2) At Christmas, I’ll be going to the mountains where there is plenty of open space, and I’ll have turned 16, so I’ll have my official drone pilot’s license.

Please note: I wrote the content and ideas of this text myself, and I only used AI to translate and refine the English (since my English is still work in progress).

Thanks for reading this long description :)

In this devlog(devlog 0.3), I would like to update you on two main progress points.

First, I continued with the general modeling of the aircraft, designing the main airframe, including the nose, canopy, and tail section. To determine the dimensions, I referenced the CAD model of my previous aircraft.
Second, I ran a CFD simulation. However, the aircraft currently generates less lift than expected (around 290 g at 15 m/s). I hope this will increase once the elevator is added. Based on my experience with my previous build, designing the elevator will be challenging because space in the tail is very limited for two servos; thus, a single servo will need to control the entire elevator surface.
Overall, I am satisfied with the progress made, as I managed to advance significantly in just a few hours. In the next devlogs, I will add the elevator and the ailerons.
NOTE: AI was used in this devlog solely for text translation, dimension references, and setup assistance with the CFD software, which is quite complex.

#DEVLOG 0.2 – Wing Design In this devlog, I would like to announce that I have completed the initial shape of the wing. After extensive research, I identified the CLARK Y airfoil as the ideal choice for my aircraft due to its favorable performance and ease of use.
I attempted to run a CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) simulation on the wing, but I couldn’t complete it due to the high complexity of Autodesk CFD (which is understandable, given that it is highly advanced, professional-grade software). In a future update—possibly in the next DEVLOG—I will share the lift and drag data for the wing. I fully recognize the importance of this simulation, as it allows us to evaluate the aircraft’s flight feasibility upfront and determine whether it will fly or stall/crash before any physical testing.
The airfoil coordinates were sourced from http://airfoiltools.com.
In DEVLOG 0.3, I will begin designing the airframe/fuselage, followed by the tail assembly and the nose section in subsequent updates (including a rigid motor mount capable of handling high structural loads).
Note for this devlog: AI assistance was used to translate this text, troubleshoot the CFD software, and calculate the aircraft dimensions (saving time on complex aerodynamic formulas).

#devlog 0.1 In this devlog, I’ve created a document listing all the electrical components, materials, and the airfoil profile that will make up my aircraft. I chose the Clark Y airfoil because I saw it recommended by many people across various subreddits.
