Overview

Although I have been a front-end web developer for long, but this concept of creating your own new tab page was completely new for me
I have never even thought or heard of it it felt nice creating something which I will be using on a daily basis

Version One

have made this new tab page according to my own needs, very minimal, and only showing the things which I need to see
Obviously there are a lot of things to add but right now this is something I can call version 1
I think I will first try the present and see if it requires some more features and require some changes instead of bloating it with abundance of features which i dont actually require day to day

Challenges

About the challenge part, I would say I’m reading about how can I actually replace my new tab page instead of just this website, and I found out that I can do that by writing a manifest file. So yeah, I am researching on that and see what I can do. I think challenge here mostly is something that is going to come next about researching out that manifest file about how to make it actually a new tab page.

Future Scope (Version Two)

How do I get that native right clicks on my page? And how do i track the times that other websites are using? Maybe make an extension to track the user behavior when he’s not on the page and display that on this page, on this landing page

sp a lot of scope is there. lets see what’s come up in version two but for version now i think this is enough

Devlog 3

this time i fixed the weather card, now it shows the correct weather based on your location, and also shows the correct time and date.
i also made UI improvements and now the todo list is on the left side of the screen, almost 100% long
added text shadow to text, so that its visible on any image as a background

Devlog 2

so i started with goal to display info cards of my coding profiles from different platform, but turns out that i cant
codechef has deprecated their public api, leetcode graphql api can only be accesed from server, so was only able to display my codeforces and github stats
after this i added a toto list card, initially it was a card but later i made it like aa sidebar app insted for better UX
i also worked on settings to customize the design , some thing i have completed like selecting which cards to display, theme, and bg, but there is still imporvement like more option for images, gradient and colour
also more then just dark and light theme, maybe a comic theme and termical theme
created a component for displaying time, date and weather, weather thing is yer to be completed

Devlog 1

###For the new page tab here are my ideas

i want to improve me Competitive Programing skill so my new tab page will revolve around that theme
i will create some web shortcuts and a reading list thing
theme customization is there, but i dont know i will try to provide as much as customizability i can

Current Status

have created a simple search bar
the search bar can be focused by pressing “/”
it also has options for three different search engines
