And here it is, TTY/OS!
TTY/OS is a simplistic Web OS designed around CLI applications, but styling it as a stacking window manager. It has four simple applications:
- A terminal with 13 commands
- A calculator with basic functions
- A read-only filesystem
- A colour app to change the theming of the system.
It also has some cool ASCII art in the background. Like it? I know it’s epic.
What I found challenging was that although I am pretty experienced with HTML, the logic for the draggable windows was pretty painful, taking up most of the time. I haven’t used mouse pointer logic here before.

Sadly, I did a lot of work in another editor so the time’s been under-reported, but that’s alright since this is a fixed payout.
It’s ready to ship! I’ve polished the code a bit, decided to include the terminal (but strip its functionality down quite a bit), and the main UI now functions properly.
Display! Currently only the calculator works. I am currently working on everything else, and I should be able to ship this by the end of the day.
Github page is ready, code is licensed and the demo is up! After fiddling around with git trying to find out how it works, I managed to get it working, and now I can always easily commit updates while working there.
Finished working on the applet styling. Now it’s time for the main body of the webOS and some scripting to get functions like the clock to work correctly.
Begun working on this project. So far i’ve just defined the main colour variables and started writing the basics such as the topbar and the background.
