ChessOS

Well I am progressing bit by bit . I now have a functional notes app, after its propertions kept getting scewed for a long time. So now that it works, I will not be touching it’s code for the remainder of this project … until I have to add minimize/maximize buttons oh well. And yeah I also made the top bar for the welcome screen a bit larger

I believe this is the saying. Well how fun that I’m already breaking them with almost zero coding experience So the guide was talking about selecting icon deselecting icon and it didn’t make sense. So instead of manning up and spend probably another 10 hours figuring out, I went to what already works, like the welcome screen, and did the same function there. But hey, it does work now so haha, lets go. I’ll probably encounter 50 other problems later on but at least I’m ending the day happy

So despite it being a new day, I have 0 clue what’s going on with that style.css … So I decided to just ditch it From what I understood it’s basically an optimization but who needs that anyways it’s on the cloud so it ain’t taking up my storage space anyways. But basically I’d assign a class and everything goes haywire. I’m sure I’ll be fine without it and if I’m not I’ll cross that bridge when I get to it. After ditching, I did my welcome screen, made it draggable only at the top, and added a closing. Haven’t got to the minimize maximize yet so another bridge.

So I got to point where I have no clue whats happening. It’s fine - I knew I’d get there somewhere, so this where we stop for today. It was the part with the CSS file and class names and a lot of things I dont understand. It’s been a hard day. On new things I’ve done include a draggable top bar, and an opening and closing welcome screen, very basic.

So I worked on the second guide of this tutorial. It was a bit more challenging but overall easy. I now have a top bar, a background, and a clock. I was trying to format the top bar properly which took a lot of time and I still didnt figure it out . I wanted to shift the ChessOS and time a bit to the right but margin and padding made the top bar smaller or bigger, and other things didnt work, but it’s fine, im not dissapointed with that. I also don’t like how the word science is a bit unreadable because of the shard but ykw its fine.

My first time coding in HTML! I don’t have that much of a clue what I’m doing, but I’m learning, and it actually seems relatively simple so far. Since I love chess, that’s what I’m doing. I understood <p>, <h#>, <img>, <a href> and the main structure. Figuring out styles was harder as there are so so sooooooooo many of them, but we are progressing. This is gonna be fun project!
