We are building a drone with an RTL-SDR attached to it so that we can create heat maps of an air area using radio signal strength on frequencies. This can be used for applications such as search and rescue and pinpointing transmitter locations
I think I’m learning a lot about aerospace while building this drone and it’s really helping me consider what industry, what specialty in aerospace I want to go into.
Today I took out my spare flight board and started harvesting wires from it and harvested the vibration managing 3D printed case and put it on our main power and flight controller board. I tried to strip down the drone frame to reduce weight. It somewhat worked. I took the camera off of it because I probably wouldn’t be using that. I tried mounting the 3D printed case on the drone. That didn’t really work so I’m going to have to make a custom case but my friend is working on that. Hopefully we can buy a battery soon, fingers crossed!
