didnt put dark mode on 97 becuase i dont think it existed back then hard to say i was negative years old. I think this is a super practical cool tab page.

RetroTabs 3rd and final devlog before second ship! I love this projcet it has been super fun trying to replicate that microsoft 97 look while also allowing the 2026 clean version to exist. This was mostly css but obvioulsy we got the glass mode and dark mode in there too which required some html and js. VERY simular to my DexterOS project for the code on the styles and js and html which allowed me to go way faster this time around.

Retro tabs devlog 2––Updated formatting with up and down to improve customization. Very simple up down feature then index in java script to allow for easy controls. Not much else next i got to center and add more css.

retro tabs now features a very simple first person shooter to take you back to 97 as promised! features
health percentage
ammo and
demons to kill.

Major css and styling reforms coming soon that are much needed. Not like to get rid of the 97 feel but to perfect it.

Retro tabs is was based of windows 95 and provides the user with transportation to the 90’s while keeping the ability to use 2026 tech. This project was inspired by my love for the decade and the many many opportunites the 90s provided with tech. It was also a time of great curiosity and hope. People were still belving in a greater future because of the great advancements in the past 10 20 30 years.
I wanted to capture this feeling this lifestyle of optimisim and hope of a brighter future. The idea that everything will work out even if people are feeling down on themselves or in a low spot. We may have to boil an ocean to capture that feeling but at least retro tabs is able to provide the fire to the stovetop that just needs time. I firmly beleive these things and that retro tabs has the ability to catch the spirit of a brighter better future.
I used ai to teach me code Im not much of a copy paster guy that just feels like cheating but some of it is from gemini teaching me the ways of the coder yes sorry that im a begginer coding student trying to learn an art that once took decades to master. So of course im going to use a free tutor to teach me an art so I can become more profficent. Think of the ai as more of an ear pod i can listen to it I can not but either way im the one whos gets the say at the end of the day if the codes in there or not.
Sorry for blabbering on about a fairly simple project I seem to be having some sort enjoyment while writing this.

Windows 95 inspired tab tool for everyone. This will provide a teleportation device into the 1990s while allowing you to use technology from 2026! Im hyped for this project and interested to see what others think too.
