–Devlog 1: Laying the Foundations of Caffeine Crisis!–

Building the Core Gameplay Mechanics

Today I officially kicked off my new project Caffeine Crisis, a fast-paced coffee shop management game built in Unity! My goal for today was to build the core loop from scratch and make sure all liquid and order logic works seamlessly.

Core Implementation & Progress

I spent the session setting up the game environment and building the C# architecture. I focused on:

Layered Liquid Stacking: Designed a vertical layout system so liquids (coffee, milk, water) stack from the bottom up in real-time as ingredients are added.

Liquid Mixing Logic: Implemented a mixing routine that blends individual stacked layers into a single blended coffee color upon serving. (Improving it until it gets better.)

Order Generation & Recipe Checking: Set up random order generation (Espresso, Latte, Americano) and a dynamic scoring system with speed bonuses.

Next Step

I’ll be focusing on adding visual assets, sound effects, a polished UI overhaul, and getting the WebGL build ready for Itch.io!

It looks terrible right now, but I’ll make improvements another time and add more recipes.

Have a nice day, have a working projects
