I built Walkman OS, a 90s retro-inspired virtual desktop built with vanilla HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Inspired by classic Sony Walkman hardware, it features a retro audio player with animated tape reels, local MP3 file uploading, track scrubbing, volume controls, a live HTML5 retro webcam app, a mixtape notepad, an LED taskbar calendar, and a multi-window management system with draggable windows. I love blending engineering and design. Modern web apps can feel generic, so I wanted to recreate the fun, tactile feel of 90s Sony Walkmans in the browser using JavaScript. This is also inspired from my love towards music and sound.
