RFID-Attendance system

Tago is a full-stack RFID attendance system designed to make classroom attendance faster, more reliable, and contactless. Students tap their RFID cards on an ESP32-S3 and RC522 reader, which securely communicates with the backend to record attendance in real time. Teachers can start sessions, monitor attendance, manage classes, and handle late or unrecognised students through a dedicated dashboard. Administrators can manage users, classrooms, RFID readers, and system settings. The system combines custom hardware, a React frontend, backend APIs, and Supabase to provide real-time attendance tracking while maintaining secure, privacy-focused handling of student information. The video only shows the software side!

I created Tago, an RFID attendance system using an ESP32-S3, RC522 RFID reader, RFID cards, buzzer, blue LED and Wi-Fi. Students tap their cards, the ESP32 sends the UID to the backend, and the system identifies the student, checks their class/session, and records attendance through the web dashboard. The most challenging part was connecting the hardware, backend, database and frontend reliably, especially handling active sessions, duplicate scans, authentication and network issues. I’m most proud of turning a physical RFID scan into a complete working attendance workflow. To test it, users need a registered RFID card, active class session, configured reader, backend and database.

Created my actual project, my devlogs accidentally ended up being recorded as 33 hours long. This was a mistake with the time tracking rather than 33 continuous hours of development. The actual work was completed across multiple sessions, but I accidentally left the devlog running.
