Sheety

I am basically building a website that plays notes that you put in it through a piano and it's for musicians who want to test certain simple pieces and it has four sets of sounds anda 4 sets of note lengths.

Ship #1

Sheety is basically a browser sheet music web application. You can click piano keys or hum into your microphone, and you can watch the notes appear on a actual staff which plays the tune back based on what you picked. No frameworks and no dependencies and it is just ONE HTML file with around 900 lines of code mixed with css and js.

I had various challenges with javascript because it was very complex based on what I wanted to do but I learned how to do it on youtube and ai and I did most of it but claude still had to assist me with the more complex stuff.

I am proud of this idea especially the background because it was not preplanned and I kept changing it and finally I got my last chosen one that I picked which was a blue icy sort of background. So overall I love that part and I am super proud of that because honestly it was not easy for me.

Overall I had an amazing time creating this and as a musician this helps me a lot in certain ways which you can see in my readme.md.

This is 100% my last devlog.

So basically what I did is add a quiz option so the thing is I had no idea how to do that but with a bit of youtube and ai I figured it out and I create 10 questions by myself and then most of the code was repeating due to the questions so I just gave claude the questions and the write answers with example code of what I wrote and it just duplicated everything but with the right answers.

And then I completed the full CSS and the rest of the HTML. I used no JavaScript this time because I am not that good with it so I only used HTML for the logical part. And it is just a button which you can click with easy questions.

So overall everything is completed and the readme is updated.

This may be my last devlog. If you have any suggestions lemme know.

So basically what I did was completed my readme which took 2 hours because I added a huge amount of data. I talked about a lot including what I learned, how it all started, how to run it, and even features.

I also changed the font style because of a recent suggestion and I changed it to comic sans because it is nice and soft but claude helped me in finding the code lines because at that time it was super unorganized.

Overall I may add a small mini game at this point to make it more fun but otherwise my readme is done for now.

SO what I did was added a key signature which can be changed so scales can be changed. For example you can change the scale from C to D which will change its whole tone.

Claude helped me with a bit of the logic and I did the whole css and html portion of it, but just for the logic claude helped me on some of it because it involved sin and tan.

Overall I love the colour scheme and now Ima go onto the readme which is gonna be PACKEED with detail because my old projects kept complaining about that.

Soo stay tuned for the readme.

For the past 30 minutes I have just been changing the background because the orange was superrr ugly so personally I like space and the sky so I made it blue.

Using css I also added snow flakes which are kind of light. So I updated the root with various shades of blue and also updated 5 to 6 colours in the root.

Now it looks amazing especially the shadow coming from the top left of the screen to the bottom right. So it goes from white to light blue in the corner. I controlled majority of this by changing the background-image.

So yes everything is going well.

Next I am gonna add another tool or possibly make this one better. Lettss see.

I added a hum function so when some hums it puts notes on the screen but the problem is that you have to hum each note slowly because it wont detect properly.

I also did the css for it by myself which was not too hard but the only thing I had a bit of issues from was the javascript so claude helped me in it and then I had a issue with the scripts which was 1000% my fault. In the last couple of lines in js I decided to do it myself and I forgot to close the so that took a while to fix lol.

Overall it is going well and I am thinking of adding more.

So far I worked on my javascript and I did 30-40 lines which were not that hard but then I struggled on the harder part of javascript so claude helped me A LOT and youtube to.

And I spend like 30 minutes fixing and changing the CSS and now it looks better, well mostly the buttons. Now when you hover it has a shadow and the colours are way less better in hovering.

It looks ugly still I know and I want to change the theme again lol but now right now first I gotta figure out and read the WHOLEEE javascript again. So lemme get reading.

Letss see what happens ima fix these bugs and eventually change the theme.

Adioss.

Currently I have huge issues in javascript and html primarily because it does not load right now as you can see in the pic below.

I finished the HTML part and for now it is less around 60-70 lines but I am going to add more later as soon as I recieve more ideas.

I also figured out the sound of the play button which is going to be the built in ones, which include sine, triangle, square and sawtooth.

These 4 honestly sound good enough so I picked them. And the note lengths I set it to was again 4 options which include whole, half, quarter, eigth. And honestly this is enough because this is not made for complexity or anything.

I also created buttons which are rest, undo, clear, save, and load. ALL of these is without the logic though so it does not work yet.

Below I added a pic of how it looks and the colours look soooo odd especially when I hover over the buttons lol Ill fix that.

Anyway for now ima work on the logical (JS) part adioss.

Hi this is my first devlog so basically what I did was start the css before the html because I have an idea of what I am gonna do and I also picked root colours.

So I am inspiring this from one of my old projects but I am adding way more because the old project was good but it couldve been more creative so I am restarting and changing the colours and majority of the logical aspects of this.

And I wanna make the buttons more fun and creative so I need to do something about that and add extra cool css when someone hovers over a button and overall it will be pretty good but my buttons are usually not creative but nows the time to make it creative possibly with some glassmorphism….

Next I’ll keep working on the css and keep making it better rn im like 40-50 percent done honestly but I still gotta make the buttons creative so that will take time bc i dont really know how to do that yet
