ChemiBot

ChemiBot is a simple slack bot used for getting info about elements, compounds and some fun facts about a daily element. It has 5 different commands, three of them being connected to a periodic table api.

This was my first ever time making a slack bot and I feel like i have really learned from it and could probably make it without following the guide (at least for the most part). Connecting my bot to the api was the hardest part, but when I figured out how to make one command I could easily make the rest.

Devlog 2

I added all my custom commands and used the periodic table of elements API to get all of the data. It was pretty hard making all of these but the guide definitely helped me. I also made some typos and one thing that I struggled to understand was why some lines were indented, but it turned out that I had, in my responses, left some whitespace which turned into indentation in the app response.

The final things to do are hosting it on HackClub Nest and writing my readme.

Devlog 1

I have now connected my bot to slack and added two simple commands: Ping and Help.

Next steps

The next things I will add are commands that allow the user to get data from the periodic table by using atomic number, get the element of the day and the molar mass of a compound.
