Surge AI — UI DevlogI’ve been spending some time fine-tuning the overall UI of Surge AI.Nothing major was redesigned this time. Most of the work was on the small things — spacing, animations, scrolling, button placement, navigation and making different screens feel more consistent.I’ve also been cleaning up a few things that looked fine while developing but felt slightly off when actually using the app.It’s mostly small changes, but together they make Surge feel a lot more polished.Still fine-tuning and testing before moving on to the next update.

Surge AI - Voice Model Devlog Most of my time lately has been spent on developing the voice feature in Surge AI.The previous implementation of voice in the app was rather slow and quite unnatural-sounding at times, so I’ve been experimenting with other models and trying to improve the experience as a whole rather than merely swapping the voice.There’s still some tuning required, but I can already tell that the answers sound a lot better now.It’s this kind of feature that seems like a straightforward thing to implement until you actually try doing that.

Been working on Surge again! This update has mostly been about voice, UI improvements, and the new accounts system.Testing different voice models to make responses sound more natural.Cleaning up the UI — fixing spacing, scrolling, animations and a bunch of small things.And finally, I’ve started working on accounts + cloud sync, so users can optionally back up and sync their Surge data across devices. Still a lot to test and fix, but it’s coming together.

For the past few weeks, I’ve been working on my own AI app, Surge AI.
I initially started working on Surge a few weeks ago, however, as I worked on the app more, I found myself making various tweaks and changes to the app’s overall design.
As such, most of my recent activity for Surge has revolved around tweaking and perfecting various parts of the app as opposed to simply adding new features.
Some of the features I’ve worked on recently include:
polishing the chat
making the AI’s voice more natural
adding and tweaking memory features
working on the library/file features
tweaking the sidebar and settings
fixing navigation problems
making the UI feel more natural for both gesture and button-based navigation
fixing scrolling and spacing issues
adding animations/haptic feedback
dark mode/AMOLED tweaks
fixing/minor tweaks to various parts of the app
Something I learned during this development process was that small touches go a long way.
While seemingly minor, little additions and tweaks to an application can make a massive difference when it comes to the overall feel of the application.
I’m sure I’ll continue to work on Surge AI, adding features and tweaking the app’s feel for the future.

Today I worked on getting Surge AI into a more usable state and continued developing the main application. The main focus was on the AI interaction system and the application interface. I worked on making it possible for a user to enter a question, send it to the AI, and receive the response directly inside the app instead of having to restart or reload anything. One of the things I had to work through was making sure the application could continue accepting new questions after a response was received. I also spent time debugging issues with the code and improving how the different parts of the application communicate with each other.I used AI as a development assistant during this process, mainly for debugging, understanding errors, exploring implementation ideas, and improving parts of the code. I still made the main decisions about how I wanted Surge AI to work and tested the changes myself. Next, I want to continue improving the interface, make the response handling more reliable, and add more features to make Surge AI feel like a complete application rather than just a basic AI chat interface.
