KC16 is officially live and it’s actually insane frr. ⚡ built with @slack/bolt and hosted 24/7 on Hack Club Nest, this bot is built different. navigating the slack dashboard config was a whole ass struggle, but looking at the final command list is satisfying asf. we got soccer trivia, cat facts, dice rolls, and cybernetics all baked in. no timeouts—just a clean, modern slack bot that actually knows wtf to do when u type.

i built KC16, a fully custom Slack bot powered by Node.js and @slack/bolt that literally runs 24/7 on a linux Hack Club Nest container. what was challenging? honestly the slack api config was an absolute fkng nightmare to navigate, and dealing with systemd service network timeouts almost took me out, but we survived it fr. i’m proud asf that it’s now completely bulletproof and lives on a server so it responds even when my laptop is shut. you can test it rn by dropping /kc16-ping in the chat to check latency, or hit it with /kc16-catfact, /kc16-joke, or /kc16-8ball to see it in action. zero slacking, just pure peak engineering.

the absolute worst part of dev is always the config but we survived it fr. spent way too much time in the slack api dashboard registering these slash commands one by one. but tbh looking at this list of all my bot’s commands mapped out with their descriptions is satisfying asf. got ping, help, catfact, joke, cybernetics, soccer, 8ball, dog, and roll fully registered so slack actually knows wtf to do when i type them. backend admin work is finally done, holy cramp. everything is completely locked in and ready for production.

bro writing out all this logic was a grind but finally all commands and coding is done 🗣️🔥 ten full slash commands slammed into index.js and the bolt app is officially ready for action. setting up the axios fetches for the random dog api and doing the javascript math for the dice rolls took a hot sec but the code is looking super clean. vs code terminal finally spitting out ‘kc16 bolt app is running and ready for action!’ is a massive w for today. stardance hours are pumped up and my fingers are dead fr. time to touch some grass.
