AeroBot isn't slacking off, it replies to messages 24/7! It is a fun and handy Slack Bot I built using Java Script. It can do a bit of everything, it pulls live orbital data for the International Space Station, it can tell the resistance of a resistor by its color bands and calculate your weight on other planets.

  • I built AeroBot using JavaScript, it is a fun and useful bot that can pull live orbital data of the ISS, calculate the resistance of resistors using its color bands, and calculate your weight on other planets.
  • Something I found challenging was get APIs to work properly with my commands and in the process I gained very useful information and things I didn’t know about before

Commands of AeroBot

  • /aerobot-ping - Checks if the bot is alive and responding
  • /aerobot-help - Lists all the commands of AeroBot
  • /aerobot-iss - Pulls live data of the ISS including coordinates, speed and visibility
  • /aerobot-resistor [band1] [band2] [band3] - Type in the color bands of the resistor and get the resistance
  • /aerobot-weight [your weight] - Type in your weight and know how much you will weigh on other planets

Final Devlog

  • My application got accepted and my slack bot is live, test it out using /aerobot-help
  • I finished my README and changed the ping response from Pong! to I am very alive!!!
  • Also added a bot image
  • The bot is ready to be shipped

First Devlog

What I did:

  • I set up the project and the repo
  • Added new commands
  • I started with some commands that used API but after trying for a while only my /aerobot-iss works so I ditched the ones that weren’t working and added some new ones

Whats next:

  • I am waiting for my Nest application to get approved and I have to complete my README then I will be ready to ship
  • Also, whoever wrote that guide is awesome, it helped me so much and is very clear, thank you!!!
