im gonna fetch all nasa's data mwahaha...

Ship #1

I built a NASA picture viewer because I wanted something clean and simple to look at space pictures without all the extra stuff.

It shows you the Astronomy Picture of the Day with the title and description. Click “See the Cosmos” and it loads up whatever NASA posted today. Some days it’s a galaxy, some days it’s a nebula, sometimes it’s a video. It handles both.

I added 3 themes because I couldn’t pick one:

  • Stoic - earthy, calm, muted tones
  • Sakura - pink, soft, dreamy
  • Simple - clean, minimal, nothing extra

You can switch themes by clicking the button or just pressing S on your keyboard. Press Spacebar to get a new picture without touching your mouse.

The font is Space Mono because I like how Nothing phones look. Clean, monospace, doesn’t get in the way.

Built this with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Nothing fancy, no frameworks. Just code that works. Used NASA’s APOD API for the pictures and GitHub Pages to host it.

Took me a while to figure out the API key and deployment but it’s finally live. Learned a bunch about CSS variables, keyboard events, and how to make things look decent without over complicating it.
