Day #33 of the Jay-Tab!
Today was amazing! However, I found issues with Homey. I found that it would actually cost me money to use Homey for this project! Therefore, I have pivoted to the Govee API and redesigned the UI so that it is for one Govee light, but I can change the color through there as well!

MAJOR PROGRESS
Today, I got the actual home working! I said that I was going to use Home Assistant to make this project work, but i faced many issues with it. Therefore, I left home assistant, and locked into homey!
At first it was a pain, as I had to get Govee working and it kept asking for an API. I ended up applying to get an API with Govee, and ended up getting the API!
In addition, it was an absolute PAIN to get the switches added as I had no idea what smart switches were in my house. At the end, I got the smart switches working through 3 different apps and got it connected to homey!
At the end, everything is connected to homey and working, and the next step is integrating it into my code!

Day #31 of the Jay-Tab! (I forgot to post this yesterday 
Today was getting my API started after I got permission to connect my Google Home to the lights! I didn’t get the full API started with home assistant, but I am still working on it! :D
Day #30 of the Jay-Tab!
I wish I had more to say today, but I don’t 😞
I wanted to get a majority of the home control software done today, but I realized that the account that controls the lights in my home isn’t through a shared Google account, but instead a Google account that doesn’t belong to me, but to my parents. When I am working on this, both my parents are already fast asleep.
Therefore, tomorrow, I am going to get the API set up with them, and I will work on the code surrounding it tomorrow!
Days 28 and 29 of the Jay-Tab!
Apparently, I spent all my time yesterday without recording anything 
I have finished the calendar screen! However, I am leaving out the other screen that talks about the other details of an event as I want to save that for V2 of the Jay-Tab.
In addition, I finished the main idea of the home control screen! Take a look! :D
Day #27 of the Jay-Tab!
Today, I spent like 5 billion years trying to squash a bug that I just noticed in the project regarding the calendar - I will be finishing it tomorrow!

I forgot to post yesterday’s devlog 
So far, I finished everything that surrounds the UI for one day, and all that needs to be done is the next day and previous day functions! I also finished the debugging!

Day #24 of the Jay-Tab!
This is one of those slow but still productive days - I finished all the logic that is going to make the calendar screen work, and tomorrow, all I need to do is that I need to work on creating the UI surrounding the calendar with multiple windows, along with debugging!
After that, is going to be part 2 of the calendar, which is when you click on an event, it should show all information that is related to that event.

Day #23 of the Jay-Tab!
Today was a bit of a slow day. I finished working on the case where there was less than 6 events in a day (Meaning all events can fit on one page), and tomorrow, I am going to work on events that are more than 6 events (That means all events need to fit on multiple pages).
I already started working on a bit of the screen where there are more than 6 events, but the bulk will be done tomorrow :D
Day #22 of the Jay-Tab!
Today, I started the UI of the calendar.
As the same that I do with every single screen that I make in the Jay-Tab, I always make a version of it in adobe illustrator.
The way I want this to work is that there should be a list of all events when you click the calendar, and when you click on an event, it will give you all of the information that is related to the event..

Day #21 of the Jay-Tab!
Today was a pretty eventful day!
The timer is finally finished! I used all the variable stuff and I made the timer actually tick down.
Tomorrow, I am going to start the calendar!

Today, I finally got the UI to adjust for the timer, and the backend works with the variables!

Day #19 of the Jay-Tab!
Today was about making the backend work for the timer! I made all the timer touchscreen functions work, and also finished all the variables!
I nearly forgot to do my minimum hourly daily work!

Today, I made the main UI for the Timer! It looks pretty good, and I also made all the functions that are going to register any touchscreen functions

Today was a really eventful day.
Today, I finished the entire home screen (Which looks FREAKING AMAZING), and I also made a prototype on Adobe Illustrator of what the timer screen will look like!


The first image is the final home screen, and the second image is the timer prototype!
Day #16 of the Jay-Tab!
Today, I got the Google Calendar API all running, and I faced a bunch of bugs that I have been figuring out.
Mainly, the font size was too big, the text went off the edge, and the text should automatically update when the calendar changes.

Day #15 of the Jay-Tab!
Today, I got most of the code for the upcoming tasks section of the home page (The last section), and I also got the clock to update after the time changes!
Realized that I never made a devlog for today!

I finished making the font work, and also configured the clock! Take a look! :D
Today was a pretty great day for the Jay-Tab!
I finished the simulator for the software before I get the hardware, and also finished all the stuff that has to do with the clock. However, there seems to be some issues with the byte arrays that make it not display correctly. The second image is what the home screen looks like and the first image is what the startup screen looks like.

Day #12 of the Jay-Tab!
This is actually a combination of yesterday’s work and today’s work.
In these two days, I was working on the clock. I spent yesterday working on the logic that will pull the time and format it, and today, I worked on converting the font into a bitmap. Take a look at the font!
Tomorrow, I am going to finish bitmap conversion and also finish that part of the home screen. After that, I am going to work on formatting the “upcoming tasks” section of the homepage.

Today was a short day
I am at a sleepover right now, but I found an issue where the UI is really pixelated. I have refined the homepage a bit to hide the pixelation…

Day #10 of the Jay-Tab!
Today, I finished coding the startup UI for the E-Ink display. It looks pretty good!
After that, I used Adobe Illustrator to make a prototype first iteration of the home screen (look at the first image). Doesn’t really look its best…
After that, I made another iteration to see how that looks! Take a look at the second image for that one! This is what I am going to program the UI to look like!

Day #9 of the Jay-Tab!
Today, I finished all the work that needs to be done with the backend, and also started the UI!
I generated all the byte arrays that need to be put in the startup screen, along with partially programming the UI!
Thanks to image2cpp for helping me automate this generation!
Day #8 of the Jay-Tab!
Today was a pretty innovative day!
With just an hour of coding, I configured most of the things with the buffer, graphics, and configured most of the display and touchscreen functions!
Nothing with the UI, yet, though… COMING SOON THOUGH!

I can’t believe it’s just been a week of the project! I am already on the firmware!
However, today was a bit pivotal…
With my firmware, I have always been trying to make it with LVGL. However, I have always been facing issue after issue with it, which is why I have restarted my firmware..
So far, I have finished all of the code that works with the framebuffer and just imported that in the main.py!
I have a somewhat vague idea of what I want the start-up screen to look like. What do we think of this?

Today was about debugging
I was facing issues with my simulator to see my tab.. I spent around 4 hours with it, but I logged almost none : P

I managed to somewhat fix it tho
For some reason, Lapse hasn’t been working for me at all for the past 2 days
But, here’s my log! (Plus 3 hours for the other time)
I have finished the CAD, and started the firmware of the Jay-Tab! The first image is the CAD, and the second image is the startup screen for the firmware!
Today was a really eventful day! I finished everything related to the PCB, and finished 95% of my CAD! Tomorrow, I’m going to finish the CAD, and then I am going to be on firmware! YAYYY 
The first image is what the final PCB looks like from the KiCad PCB Editor, the second image is the 3D view, and the third one is what the shell is going to look like!
Quick note, the stem in the back will have a weight (Hollow), and a rubber stem on the bottom.
Today, I started working on the PCB (Aka. THE ENTIRE BACKBONE) for this project!
I faced a lot of issues with the HAT for the display and still am. Tomorrow, I am going to finish the issues with the HAT, and start the case tomorrow!

Today, I couldn’t get much accomplished. Main reason that I realized that I had a lot of issues with my PCB schematic. I have now finished those changes and assigned all footprints, and tomorrow, I am going to design the PCB!

Today, I started the Jay-Tab! It is the most difficult project that I have worked on, but I am going to give it a shot! 
I sketched the idea, created a schematic for the display, USB-C, regulator, and rotary encoder.
After that, I started assigning footprints, and then also made my first footprint! It’s really basic, but it is meant to just be three pads.
I had another hour of work, but I forgot to log it
