AstroBase is a platform designed to help students and space enthusiasts discover astronomy opportunities, educational resources, and university programs in one place. Its first version is being built as a Python and MySQL application, with plans to evolve into a full web platform.

AstroBase is now at the stage where the main V1 features are built and working. I finished the core student, organisation, and admin workflows, including authentication, organisation verification, resource and opportunity submissions, university contributions, and admin content management. I also made the GitHub repository public and prepared the project for deployment as part of Stardance. AstroBase is now getting ready to ship, with the Git repository, GitHub URL, and live demo URL being prepared for the final submission.

P.S. The third picture shows a sample organisation account used to demonstrate AstroBase’s organisation workflow.

Astrobase has started becoming more than just a website.
I’ve now built the student authentication system and introduced three roles: Student, Organisation and Admin, each with different access and features.
The organisation system is also mostly complete. Organisations can apply, get verified, create a profile, access their dashboard and contribute resources to Astrobase.
I’ve also started building the admin content management system, where submissions can be reviewed, approved, rejected, edited or archived before being published.
My current focus is finishing the admin workflow and connecting the full submission → review → publication process.
After that, I’ll move back to organisation features and then start working towards the student features, AI and final polish.
Some of the progress is shown below: organisations can now apply to join Astrobase, access a dedicated dashboard and manage their profile. They can also submit resources through the new contribution system, while admins can review and manage submitted content before publication.
Astrobase is finally starting to feel like a real platform.

Building the Astrobase Visual Identity
Today I focused on redesigning the visual side of the Astrobase homepage.
I worked on the hero section, typography, colour palette, section layouts and the Explore Astrobase cards. I also added custom SVG icons, hover effects, and gave the Explorer Assessment its own visual style.
The homepage is starting to feel less like a database interface and more like an actual platform built around exploration and discovery.
Next, I’ll continue refining the interface and adding more functionality.

AstroBase is officially underway!!

I’ve started building the first version of AstroBase as a Python + MySQL application. The current foundation includes separate sections for users, opportunities, resources, and universities, with functionality for adding, viewing, updating, and deleting data.

I’ve also started building the search, update, delete, and reporting systems, with the goal of making AstroBase more than just a database. I want it to eventually become a platform where students can discover opportunities, resources, and university programs related to space science.

This is only the beginning of AstroBase, but the core structure is finally coming together.
