My First WebOS!

  • 4 Devlogs
  • 5 Total hours

This is my very own OS that can be run in the web!

Ship #1

I created my first WebOS with the guide by Hackatime and I created a web app called “The Prologue” which is basically a book journal app. It was challenging to make the buttons in my project work correctly and I had to spend a lot of time just trying to understand Github. But overall I’m happy with the outcome!

HEEYYY I’M DONE WITH THIS PROJECT!!! (for now I might do some updates in the future) So I finished my app called “The Prologue”. It is a book journal and to be honest, I have done the outline of the app in HTML before, so I didn’t waste any time styling or adding features about the website etc. But I added buttons and scripts, I made a reading list page which almost worked with the same logic as the review page. I made the reviews draggable! So you can list them in order. I had to waste a lot of time to learn how to connect two html files to eachother and get the live working link, but I figured it out. My first review was for my friend’s book, whom I dedicated my web app too, as you can learn about in the about page. This project was a lot harder than I expected, but I’m happy with the outcome and I hope some people will enjoy it too!

I have created my logo for my app, and now it opens a new window when I click it! I hade a problem with linking the new window to the first one and it gave me an error message saying file couldn’t be accessed. That problem did take me 30 minutes to fix and I have to admit I used AI many times to figure out what I can do to solve it - turns out AI didn’t know anything more than I did but it worked at the end. Now for the final step, I’ll finish designing my app!

Added move and close buttons to my OS by finishing Part 3, now it is draggable! I had a LOT of issues with connecting my js and css files to my html file and my codes had a LOT of errors that continued growing as I tried to fix them, hence the 2 hours. I really need help on learning how to use Github without going crazy…

Done with part 2 of the guide… So you can be sure that this 2 parts took me WAY more than an hour (like MUCH more…), but I had an issue with my hackathime and somehow couldn’t connect my repo, so only 16 minutes of my work was logged until now. (someone please give me a github tutorial I am going crazy…) I had to do a LOT of research to learn how to style my OS the way I wanted it to look. However I can say that with my limited HTML knowledge it’s actually going really good! I’m going to continue developing my project tomorrow, only 3 parts left to go!
