i have a new saving system that will allow me to use a combination of hard drive saving and code saving it will work via you saving it to the data log then you plug the microbit into your device then you read the code enter the code into the load feature and you have you song back
im trying to make the save feature so far but it multiplies itself I dont know why
im trying to find a reliable way for the user to save their song, the microbitV2 im pretty sure has 512kb of flash memory but the only way that I know of right now to use it is via the datalog extension which doesnt allow for reading just writing to the flash you can read more about datalogging on https://makecode.microbit.org/reference/datalogger
still trying to debug the error with hairless midi
im just gonna keep postin devlogs in block code so that anybody with any knowledge can understand it: ive added this feature that when ur in midi mode it plays the preview note through your DAW or whatever u have connected instead of the internal speaker
finished most of the menu thing so far still have yet to make the save and load feature
fixed a bug that had hairless midi giving out this error. When the microbit is playing the song in MIDIMODE it sends data way too fast for the microUSB cable to send so it comes out broken to solve this i added a timed delay that made sure every byte of data came through the cable clean. I also worked on the quick menu more
stiill working on the main menu sorta thing i put the code in blocks so its easier to visualize rather than text code
working on a new menu system that makes changing playing modes, saving your songs and tilt logic to bend the synthesizer frequencies or modulate note volumes in real-time just by physically tilting your board left, right, forward, or backward possible in the future
trying to debug something that goes on only on real hardware but not the simulator
GIANT UPDATE 1.0 TOO MUCH TO LIST HERE https://github.com/johnnywiththethinkpad/micromidi/releases/tag/v1.0.0
this code here allows you to remove notes
this small if script saved the entire project, why you might ask its because before when you clicked a or b not only it would move your cursor but would also call for a function and that function would delete sprites that didnt exist yet which resulted in a null error this checks if there is scrolling and then it would call upon the function
Hello everybody, version 0.1.0 is out check it out here https://github.com/johnnywiththethinkpad/micromidi/releases/tag/v0.10
We are a little bit behind now: so I thought of using some AI to help me out on the note playing thing but what it actually did was give me faulty code that resulted in the software leaking memory, I have learned my lesson
I’ve gotten the scan line to finally work, its sorta complicated but it scans the line its on for any blocks and each individual block of the scan line is a specific row a notes for example all of the notes on 0x is middle C so the scan dot of the scanline on 0x checks if theres a block there and it doesn’t even need to know what note it is all it knows is all the notes there are a middle C so it plays a C my next thing to tackle is how to make it play chords as i said earlier the 65mhz CPU can only play a single tone at a time
a new sorta worse scrolling design but very simple
debugging ;(
big problem i have no photos today but during testing on real hardware, the microbit can only make sound in one channel (monophonic) but i have a solution the gameboy by using fast arpeggios i can make it sound like its playing all 4 notes at once
Where did my cursor go? I added a system that when your cursor is over a note in the 5x5 screen that pixel flashes so it does not blend it with the others
Placing down notes - Just like in a real DAW! Ive come up with this code that allows the user to place down a note in the 5x5 grid square using the capacitive logo button on the microbit V2
