YourDistro - Stardance

Ship #1

I created YourDistro, a quiz app with 30 different Linux distros. Answering any of the 15 questions awards points to matching systems, recommending whichever distro gets the most points.

Challenges & Features:

Implemented an automated safety filter for Nvidia GPUs that blocks unsupported distros early on.
Designed the logic to dynamically show multiple winners simultaneously in a tie-game.

If something is not working in github pages, ctrl + shift + R will likely fix it.

I added 30 distros to the quiz! Each distro and question choice has special tags. When you click an answer, the code checks these tags and gives points to the distros that match the tag.

At the end, the quiz shows whichever distro got the most points. If there is a tie and multiple distros get the exact same highest score, the code is smart enough to show both of them together on the screen!

AI helped me also add a special safety rule for graphics cards: if someone clicks that they use an Nvidia GPU, the quiz will automatically hide and block any distro that does not support it, so they don’t get a broken system.

Here are the 30 distributions I added to the database array:

Debian & Ubuntu Family: Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Zorin OS, Pop!_OS, elementary OS, KDE Neon, Linux Lite, antiX, Debian, Kali Linux, Tails, Raspberry Pi OS

Red Hat & Independent: Fedora, Rocky Linux, AlmaLinux, openSUSE, Solus, Alpine Linux, Slackware

Arch Linux Ecosystem: Arch Linux, Manjaro, EndeavourOS, Garuda Linux, CachyOS

Gaming Specialties: SteamOS, Nobara Project, BazziteAdvanced

Security Architecture: Qubes OS

I added 15 questions(I might change them a little bit, I am not sure). Next, I am going to add 30 distros. I will send the list of the distros that will be included.

I added the CSS. Since I didn’t know what style or colors to use, I let AI decide it(Maybe I will change it later, Idk).

Devlog 1

The idea is to create a quiz where you answer questions to find out which distro suits you best. I plan to add 30 distros, but for now, I have only built the base of the site.
