It's very personal to me :D
It's very personal to me :D
The last of the edits are up! Most of the changes are just optimization and making sure that everything on the blueprint version of the site matches the star chart version without being the same. A few bugs popped up due to url linking issues, but those were fixed by swapping out the dev server, which was stripping trailing slashes so the blueprint pages kept using the star chart’s stylesheet. A secret 404 error page was also added, which will probably never pop up due to the site being so simple and unclicked-on.
In this iteration, I added a lot of moving parts to the background, and all are up and spinning. There are still issues with the website not looking good on mobile and objects spinning the wrong way. There isn’t much to say, as it’s mostly just UI changes to make the background more intricate and add an image of a plane.
To Do:
I am starting a new UI in addition to my previous one, as I had a lot of fun with it. Here is currently a preview of it. The rest will take a very long time, but it likely won’t seem like much as it’s mostly just adding movement to the background.
Some of the issues I have had include drawing out all the gears in the background and just figuring out a unique UI that both matches with the star chart one and reflects my interest in engineering.
To Do:
There are minimal changes to the site, but also rather time-consuming ones. The main difference is the background, which required much trial and error. The clock section was also changed and the constellation fixed.
The changes made in this iteration were mostly unnoticable small bugs. For one, the bar at the top was not leaving the page when I scrolled. This was of my own fault for adding a setting that I didn’t want. I changed the constellation to better fit, but it still needs tweaking. The three clocks for important astrophysics times were added.
To Do:
This is a long overdue devlog. I spent about five hours with this project without even noticing time going by because I was so excited to make this cool new UI.
Built out my personal site around a star-atlas-chart theme, with four pages: home, about, resume, and a “random stuff” page for small games and experiments. Got it deployed to GitHub and Vercel (Vercel was previously done already as this is a long term project).
Still to do:
