we are moving to SLAM based tracking, a massive amount of work was done so ive completed the BoM other than pcbs and filament, so i made the bom did the theory work on all components needed and uh im almost done fixing my fuckass ender 3 which is like a ship of theseus at this point with the ammount of modification ive put it through, but yeah most of my work was finding the right components making sure they would work together etc so now i just need to get the parts, design the pcbs and the shell and build the mechanical parts like for ipd and the lens array whatchamacallits oh yeah we are making like pseudo pancake lenses following this paper https://opg.optica.org/oe/fulltext.cfm?uri=oe-32-25-44164 and in big part this hackday project https://hackaday.io/project/187343-the-psuedopancakes big thanks to the authors of both sources, also as this will be loosely off hades vr big thanks to them you can learn more about them at https://github.com/HadesVR/HadesVR also of course ORB-SLAM3 which you can see here https://github.com/UZ-SLAMLab/ORB_SLAM3 but yeah now i have to split up work for me and my partner and ofc buy the parts which will hurt as it totals 570 ish euros which is diabolical but its all gonna be open source and be a smd made vr headset people can modify and make their own versions of, i really hope lots of people like it, ill attach below some pictures from my work, i hope you have a nice day or night whoever you are reading this and sorry for any grammatical errors and such.
