real life jarvis

Ever since I was a small kid, I have wanted to build a real-life JARVIS. That is why I am creating this project: to turn that childhood idea into a working AI assistant that can talk, control my smart home, help with daily tasks, and connect all my devices together.

I properly configured the repository so it works as a HACS integration. I also removed the text-to-speech and speech-to-text parts from the integration. In the future, I plan to move the TTS and STT features into a separate service so they can be developed, updated, and used independently.

Ship #1 Changes requested

I built a self-hosted real-life JARVIS using Proxmox, Home Assistant, Hermes Agent, View Assist, and an old Echo Show.
The system can listen for a wake word, understand speech, respond with a voice, control smart-home devices, and show information on a dedicated screen without needing a phone or computer.

I set up a working voice device for JARVIS. I can now talk to JARVIS directly without needing to use my phone or computer. I also created configuration files that should work for everyone and wrote a guide explaining how to set up the voice device and connect it to Home Assistant and Hermes Agent.

I fixed the text-to-speech and speech-to-text providers in the Home Assistant Hermes integration. The Hermes conversation agent, TTS provider, and STT provider are now all working inside Home Assistant.

I created a HACS integration for connecting Hermes Agent to Home Assistant. The integration adds: A Hermes conversation agent and tts/sst form Hermes. The conversation agent is working, but the TTS and STT are currently broken.

The tts and stt API plugin for Hermes fully work now. The next step is to create a Home Assistant add-on that connects Home Assistant’s AI and voice features to Hermes Agent. This will allow Home Assistant to use Hermes as part of the JARVIS voice-assistant system.

Today, I started working on a plugin for Hermes Agent that exposes its stt and tts through an API .The goal is to use this API later to connect Hermes Agent to Home Assistant and other parts of the JARVIS project. I have not managed to get the plugin working yet, so I will continue working on it today and try to fix it.

Dev Log 001. I started building the foundation of my real-life JARVIS project. I chose an old laptop with an AMD Ryzen 7 5700U and 16 GB of RAM as the main server. I installed Proxmox VE so I can run multiple virtual machines and services on the same computer. After setting up Proxmox, I installed Home Assistant OS using the Proxmox community installation script. I then completed the Home Assistant setup and installed HACS so I can easily add community integrations and custom features later. I also wrote the first setup guides for the project. These guides explain which hardware I am using, why I chose Proxmox, how to install Proxmox VE, how to open the Proxmox web interface, and how to install Home Assistant OS and HACS.
