UPDATE! Devlog #2 after a surprisingly intense battle against the laws of time itself, I’ve finally figured out how to make the clock and date update automatically in my project. What seemed like a simple “just show the time” feature quickly turned into me questioning my life choices, JavaScript, and occasionally the concept of time itself. 😅The good news: the clock now ticks in real time and the date updates correctly without requiring a system reboot, a sacrifice to the coding gods, or manual intervention. It’s a small feature, but it makes the OS feel much more alive and responsive. On to the next challenge! Progress: Dynamic Time & Date ✅Status: Winning the fight against time (for now…)
Yap OS – DevLog #1 I Started This Project Yap OS began as a personal challenge to deepen my understanding of operating system design, user interface development, and software architecture. I wanted to explore what it takes to build an operating system experience from the ground up.
I have focused on establishing the foundation of the operating system. Completed Desktop environment, visual identity Wallpaper, theme concepts, layout Live clock and date .
I have also improved my understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript by applying them to a larger projects. The next development milestone includes: Finalizing the desktop interface Improving system performance Adding additional built-in applications Enhancing visual effects and animations Expanding customization options Closing Thoughts. Yap OS is still in active development, but the project has already become an excellent learning experience. Each feature brings new technical challenges and opportunities to improve both the system and my development skills. I look forward to sharing future updates .
