App Overlay

Ever wanted to have a overlay of what ever you chose? Well at least i did. The goal of this project is to let you pick any open app you have and have it overlay on your screen, perfect for looking at notes while mastering a puzzle or building inspiration in minecraft!

Ship #1

IT'S SHIP TIME!

The whole goal of this project was to solve a real problem for me, and hopefully for others as well. What the project does is allow for any app to be overlayed onto your screen to help you in other programs or games! For example, inspiration while doing art, or notes on how to complete a level! (my tool is always on top, making it better than things like split screen, you save screen space and it works great)

Throughout this project, I encountered a lot of problems that needed a ton of research. That is how any percent of AI ended up in this project. I had little knowledge of how to get mirroring to actually work! But with some research and help from AI, it is working and functioning, and it doesn't look too bad at that.

I can say I am pretty proud of this, as it took effort and time, and solved a real problem.

How to Test:
Press try project, then download the exe and run it (give it a second to configure everything)
And boom, it works right out of the box!

Dev Log #4

Final revisions!

I have been working on polishing up the project, now the print functions are removed, changed it so now the settings txt file is under a folder named “Overlay-App” just so it looks nicer. as well now it doesn’t give you the option to overlay the error message and some other small little fixes!

Dev Log #3

Its looking fancy!

I have since the last devlog, updated the UI to have a change mode button as well as the structure to allow the feature to work, now there is a changeable light mode/dark mode and the settings saves through a system i created which can create a settings file, as well as read and write to it to save the users desired mode.

I made some changes visually to it as well as now it can hold more buttons as there is a scrolling frame

All of this made in python

As well as several bugs were fixed!

And now there is an icon!

Just a few more features to go and it will be done, such as adding light mode vs dark mode.

The goal of this project is to let you overlay what ever you want onto your screen, So far i have developed the basic UI and the overlay does work (with help of AI) However, the project doesn’t feel very polished, since it functionally works now its time to make it feel like a real app!

Image displayed is what it currently looks like when you go to select a app to overlay.
