ApexOS started as a simple idea: what if a browser could feel more like a real operating system? As someone who enjoys building interactive web experiences, I wanted to create something that went beyond a traditional website and felt like a complete digital workspace. The result is ApexOS, a browser based operating system that brings together a familiar desktop environment, multitasking capabilities, and a collection of useful applications in a seamless and responsive interface. From opening apps and managing files to customizing the workspace, every feature is designed to make the experience feel natural and intuitive

What did you make?
I made ApexOS, a web-based operating system inspired by a real desktop experience. It has a custom interface, windows, icons, apps, and a system-style feel, all running inside the browser.

What was challenging?
The hardest part was making it feel smooth and usable, not just like a webpage with boxes on it. Building the window behavior, layout, responsiveness, and making everything work together without breaking took a lot of trial and error.

What are you proud of?
I’m proud that I turned a fun idea into something that actually feels like a product. It looks and behaves like a small operating system, and I built it in a way that makes it enjoyable to explore.

What should people know so they can test your project?
Open the link https://apexos.nshettigar.me/ in a desktop browser for the best experience. Try clicking around like you would on a normal computer,open apps, move through the interface, and explore the different parts of the system. Some features are still being improved, so feedback is welcome.

I’ve been building ApexOS to be a personal, sleek, and highly functional web based operating system. Right now it has some simple icons and some simple functionalties, From here i am planning to implement some new functionalties, change the ui and introduce new apps. It is a long run from now…..
