one of the most awesome webos youll come across on this website

Ship #2

ITS DONE

I have made a new programming lanuage for this webOS with an integrated terminal on which you can see your programms running

Added a documentation for that programming lanauge on the “browser” which people can read to get familiar w the lanuage

Added IRL like file system in which you can make files from the termianl and whatver you make will also exist in the file manager

This is exactly like how normal computers do it and i think its pretty nice

The most thing im proud of is that new programming language yall HAVE to check it out i included some demo scripts too

This devlog i added pyrite, its own python like programming lanuage

You can make simple programs in this run them in the terminal inside it

Fixed the file manager, now you can use linux commands to make files from terminal and theyll actually show up in the file manager so thats pretty cool

I think ill call it wraps now :yayayay-pixo:

Ship #1

I built my epic WebOS, a browser-based desktop environment developed using React and Vite. The project includes a window manager, taskbar, desktop shortcuts, and several built-in applications such as a browser, notes editor, music player, paint application, and settings panel. The main focus of the project is the Linux-inspired terminal, which implements a virtual filesystem and supports commands such as ls, cat, touch, mkdir, clear, theme, and neofetch.

The most challenging part was designing and implementing the terminal system, since every file, directory, and command had to be simulated, so that was quiet tricky.

I’m particularly proud of how closely the terminal experience resembles a real Linux shell while still being integrated into a desktop environment. For testing, I recommend opening the Terminal application first and trying commands such as help, neofetch, ls, touch test.txt, cat test.txt, and mkdir projects to explore the virtual filesystem and command system.

Also i recommend checking other apps out aswell, the main focus of this project was terminal but other apps are as polished aswell, so give that a try.

For the second part of this challenge im gonna be maiing a completely personalized python inspired programming lanuage with a text editor and you could actually be able to program simple programs in it like you do in your own computer

Fixed the music app finally, the beep boop music is playing, that was such a headache, made some minor bug changes aswell, updated the readme to ship the project, and im quiet satisfied with what has been made even tho Webdev isnt my forte.

Going with the technical field, remaking the linux type commands in this, added a proper file system, cat, touch, cp, move and a LOT more file commands.

Tried to fix the music player glitch that my music wasnt playing, in the end im still not able to fix that so ill keep onto that, but with respect to the technical approach im quiet satified by the terminal rn, just wait till i reach the 2nd tier in this challenge

Added something i learned in my computer science class in the paint app too, it only made sense to add it in my os too.

I learned about floodfill and how its used to fill in colors in closed polygons by checking each pixel around it if its of any color other than background

working on a webos for the webos1 challenge, i have currently added a music app in which you can store my local directory, then you have a lil browser in which it just shows you predefined results, a paint app in which u can actually draw and save your artpieces as jpeg files, a little terminal with simple linux type commands and obviously neofetch, also added a lil notes app cuz well we love notes app.

This screenshot may have a little easter egg for whats coming up next in WebOS challenge 2
