Making my own CNC machine as cheap as possible while still maintaining high rigidity to cut metals. Continuing this project through Stardance instead of Macondo.
PCB Component Placement
- How do you place components in large PCB designs (400 components in this case)?
The answer, use plugins! External plugins in KiCAD help a bit to place your components based off of their location in the schematic. However, it isnt perfect so a lot of manual labor is still required to place the components.
Furthermore, I need to do more research about how to reduce parasitic inductance, while still being able to transmit power to all the MOSFETS and attaching capacitors. Also, due to the large EMI of the TMC5160 driver SPI communication has been moved to the 4th layer on the PCB. Protecting it from the large EMI by seperating it with a GND plane.
