This project is a 60% modular keyboard designed to combine a compact wireless typing base with attachable expansion modules. The keyboard would support Bluetooth and USB-C, while smaller accessories like function rows, knobs, and compact displays could snap directly onto the board through a shared attachment and data system. Larger accessories, such as macropads or big touchscreens, can also work as independent peripherals over USB-C or Bluetooth for more flexibility.

So I bought my parts and finally got them all. Without further delay (not including the nine hours I spent) I soldered everything together. This is my second time soldering, so everything was quite time consuming, especially the smaller MCP23017 pads and the SMD diodes I convinced myself to use, but I finally got it done. Also checked most–but not all–of the connections with a multimeter. Now I start work on the ZMK firmware!!! And hopefully finally get it working.

Also, we got OG rgb– glow in the DARK keycaps

Planning and Layout:
Created a parts list for the base modular keyboard and researched the mcu I need –> will most likely be using a nRF52840 to facilitate the base keyboard
